I'm working on a K1 visa (fiance) for my thai girl to the U.S. and I have a few questions. This is in reference to the support form. I had a house fire while I was working overseas and all my W2s and tax forms went up in smoke. I am in the process of trying to get copies of my W2s ( the only one that I have is for the last year which I sent in) but I am looking at a few months. I sent in a letter explaining the housefire situation. Is my thai girl going to get nicked when she shows up to the embassy to start the process? I also have a letter from new boss explaining the situation and also my pay grade and occupation. Any help would be appreciated

You can obtain copies of your returns from IRS but it takes several weeks. I don't know of anyone who has tried from BKK but, even in the states, it takes some time. Add the mail delays here and it could take quite some time. There is also a fee for this.

An allternative is to requiest transcripts of your accounts from IRS. This takes less time and, last I knew, there is no fee.

Either way, download Form 4506 from the IRS website and read the instructions.

I'm the employer here in the US and can tell you that - AS OPTION- the "social security office" will have all records of your earnings. You can contact them yourself or have your employer contact the nearest location. You should be able to get the print out same day if you show up in person.

Good luck

Thank you, I will give it a try. Hopefully, they won't nail us too much if I can show my earnings, at least, for the pass three years. I did put in an order through IRS for copies of everything but that can take around two months.

I was under the impression that for the K1 visa all you have to provide is evidence that you can support your fiance when she comes to the US. In other words, an employment letter indicating your salary ought to suffice. Make sure the letter has the company's letterhead and contact information.

If you have a stash of other monies (ie savings, stocks, etc) those also can be used for evidence. No where have I seen that you need to submit tax forms or W-2s.

I just did some quick research. I believe I am correct (unless you are self-employed). Click on this link to read about the I-134. This is the affidavit that you need to submit for a K1 visa. If you are going for a spouse visa, then the regulations require a different form... the I-864 (which does require tax forms, etc, etc).
