Staff rush to get furniture out of the office.

PHUKET: -- A suspected short-circuit filled the Phuket Governor's office with smoke this afternoon.

The alarm was raised after people smelled smoke, and then saw it coming out of upstairs windows of the office, on Narison Rd, Phuket Town.

As staff rushed to shift furniture out of the building before it smelled irretrievably of smoke, firefighters were called.

The fire was tracked on a short-circuit in an air conditioner installed above the upstairs ceiling, with burning plastic cable sheathing producing dense choking smoke.

The firefighters were able to put the fire out in 10 minutes. No on was hurt.

Governor Maitri Inthusut was not there at the time.

Fuse? Circuit breaker? rolleyes.gif

No... remove all furniture, it is far more quicker and safer to do that.

Oh... don't forget the big safe in the corner.

Someone burning documents?

Again i shake my head.

Seems here that furniture is more important than your own life.

Look at some of the wiring around you. It is hardly surprising there are fires given the incompetence and lack of electrical safety in Thailand.

Sometimes a little spark here and there comes in handy...

However, I guess if the fire was intentionally the guy would have saved his flowers already the day before.

Don't like it? Go home or stop complaining. Enjoy what is here like sunshine, palm trees, beaches, et al..

"Seems here that furniture is more important than your own life." Well, furniture does have a function and is not useless, unlike many in the "work force" I would say....

What a shame the thread title isn't, "Phuket Governor Fired." biggrin.png

Didn't that headline air in the last few days of May? Wasn't that one of the General's first actions?

In the Event of a fire

1) Don't sound the alarm

2) Don't leave the building via the safest route

3) Leave all Doors open

4) Use any available flower pots to tackle the fire

5) Please Make sure all furniture is placed at the fire assembley point

Thanks for your co-operation - Ministry of Health and Safety Thailand
