I am renovating some old family farm equipment and need rust treatment that goes beyond grey rust inhibiting primer which is all anyone stocks or claims to know about. My old standby in other English speaking countries is Jenolite, a range of products based on phosphoric acid which turns rust into a stable compound called ferris phosphate, stable enough for painting. Does anyone know if Home Pro or Thai Wasadu carry anything useful of this nature or anything elase that really works? It is a bit of a treck to either of these stores for me, so some known brand names to ask for would be helpful. No helpful hints to use Coke or Pepsi please. I know they contain carbonic & phosphoric acid but in minuute quantities, not useful for rust treatment . (Don't believe everything you see on the "interweb".)

Have previously bought Permatex 'Naval Jelly' ,same chemistry, from HomePro. Quite a while ago and have not had a need to look for it again recently.

Also have similar stuff to brighten and clean aluminium.

Someone might have more up to date info ref Watsadu/GlobalHouse etc.

These guys sell some heavy duty stuff. Bring money.

I ran into them at a trade show at BITEC.

As an alternative, you may go to an auto paint store and buy phosphoric acid they use to prep steel for painting. It will generally be in generic looking plastic bottles with a green tint.

I second Thaiddown's suggestion.....thumbsup.gif

Have used the Permatex "Rust dissolving Gel"....recently ....works great....bought it at Homepro.

After having removed all the rust....I used a two part expoxy paint system (not sure if available at Homepro as got it at Global) to prevent future rusting ....Also works Great ...Sorry don't know the brand name as been awhile since I used it.

Phosphoric acid is the bad boy of rust removers. When I was in Home Pro last week,

in the section with general products such as wd40, there was a bottle of phosphoric

acid. Seem to recall it was about 500 baht.

Are all these products you guys are referring all applied by brush and would involve mask and gloves.

Too dangerous to spray on?

And then when you have applied it, simple clean off or do again and again

Love the topic but completely off my experience radar.
