Can samui Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 Looking for a new bike and like the Versys but have only sat an Er6n.....which I didn't like. The Versys seems better suited to distance riding so if there is anyone on Samui that owns a Versys and would let me just sit the bike, not take it out, just to make sure the position suits me before I head to Bangkok to buy one. Cheers. Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect Thailand
Shurup Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 I don't live on Samui nor do I own Versus, but I sat on all the Kawas and I found Versus the most comfortable to sit on. It is however very tall bike and if you had ANY issues reaching the ground on ER6N, you will not touch the ground sitting on Versus.
Can samui Posted July 10, 2014 Author Posted July 10, 2014 Thanks Shurup. No height issues with the Er6n. Am 5'10 so shouldn't be an issue with the Versys. Found my hands going to sleep within 5 minutes on the Er due to the forward riding position. Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect Thailand
Shurup Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 I didn't try Er6n but Ninja is more comfortable to sit on (I own one), more up right position. Especially since I lowered it for my wife, the handlebars came even closer. I can ride this thing for hrs feeling just fine, but saying all this, Versus feels a lot better. If I hadn't decided on a larger sports bike, I would be traiding my Yamaha cruiser for a Versus. If you're looking for a comfortable ride, I'm sure you will like Versus. noendtoit Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 If you have trouble finding the model you want, they usually have a complete selection at Kawasaki Nakhon Sawan. I just took a bus there, cash in pocket, bought a bike and rode home same day. I'll attach a card. 1

Be aware that with red dealer plates you can not drive night time or out of the province where the red plates are issued. True! But I had no problems riding my bike with NO plates (outside of the province where I purchased it from) for a few months while waiting for the regular plates and a green book. I'd say it really depends on where you're at, I wasn't riding in BKK nor in any other big touristy places, never had a problem.
noendtoit Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Things MAY be a little different with the military in control, so beware. If you live on one of the islands, you have a long ride ahead of you. Why buy all the way up in CM?
Can samui Posted July 12, 2014 Author Posted July 12, 2014 Thanks guys. The bike is a 2011 so comes with white plates. Closest decent used bike I found was Bangkok, the extra 100,000 to go new just wasn't in the cards. The bike in CM is in great shape, falang owner and comes with 35 litre Givi bags. Using my Bangkok Airways miles to fly from Samui to CM (never thought that would really work!) then coming back to Suratthani by train with the bike as luggage. Dirt cheap in the long run. Popular Post noendtoit Posted July 18, 2014 Popular Post Posted July 18, 2014 Congratulations on you new bike! I would point out, however, that you can boost power and performance by changing it from black to red. You can do it for about 10,000. You just change all the plastic parts and tank. I did it with my ER6n (black to red), and wow(!) I must a got another 150hp out of it. 3

It happened to me when I changed my black BMW 3 serious for a red one. In the red one I was done for speeding 3 times in as many months. (Once they had to radio ahead as they could not catch me ) The police (in the UK) said that they always looked out for red (boy racer) cars. This was back in the 80's though.
Can samui Posted July 19, 2014 Author Posted July 19, 2014 Ok, here she is, fresh off the truck. Off to the licensing office next week to make all legal! Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect Thailand 1
Shurup Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 Nice bike! P.S. Careful with that parking pad, if the stand goes into one of the holes it would probably tip the bike over.
Can samui Posted July 19, 2014 Author Posted July 19, 2014 Yeah, noticed that as soon as I got the bike. Have a piece of wood there now. Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect Thailand

I used to carry a magnetic kickstand pad in my tank bag for the kickstand on soft surfaces. Sometimes you have to park where the just isn't a good place for the stand. But I kept losing the thing. Now I carry a smashed (flat) can in my tank bag for the job. Takes up little space, does the job and it was free. 1
