Hello

My family have recently come over to Thailand and would like me, my wife and daughter to go live in the UK with them. I am married to a thai lady (24 years old) I am 25 years old and we have a 9 month old daughter.

What visa would we need to apply for? I hear there is a holiday (tourist visa) and a marridge visa? Which one would we need?

What are the requirements for both and how long does the application take from start to finish?

Thanks for reading and I hope to hear from anyone with some advice for us, thank you :o

Rob,

If by "live" you mean to stay permanently, then your wife will need a settlement visa. Do a bit of a search and you should come up with what's needed.

Your daughter, depending upon how you gained your British citizenship, might well be entitled to a British passport too, in which case she won't require a visa.

Thanks scouse, great to see your still on this website helping people :D

Is a holiday visa out of the question if shes already married to me? I was told if you are married already then you can not apply for that :o

Hi

My wife had to attend an interview on Tuesday and was told that she would get the outcome sometime next week so sitting here fingers crossed that its a YES but if its a refusal will have to go through the whole procedure again.

Do they return all your documents if its a NO?

Your wife can still apply for a holiday visa, but that doesn't entitle her to live in the UK. The longest she could then stay is 6 months.

Yes. If they fail to do so, then telephone the embassy and ask for them.
