A Black Book With Examples?

Featured Replies

When i was in Thailand 10 years ago, my friend from Australia had this black book with Thai lessons in it. It was absolutely fabulous. There were examples in paragraphs with translations in the back. I was in love with it but have not seen it anywhere else EVER since. Does anyone know of this book? A publisher or name would be helpful!

Thanks

Linda (:o)

A black book with examples in paragraphs is not much to go on... but we'll see if somebody knows. I assume you have already tried to ask your Australian friend?

I have a 'black book' with examples (spelling, phonetics, grammar, etc.) that I have found to be very good. It's called "The Fundamentals of the Thai Language - Fifth Edition) by Stuart Campbell B.E. (Sydney) and Chuan Shaweevongs M.S. (Author of "A Thai Refresher Course"). Purchased it at Suriwong Book Center many years ago. Distributors (US) Paragon Book Gallery), Australia - W.W. Cheshire PTY. LTD Melbourne, Europe - Bay Foreign Languag Books (England).

Seems to be an e-book available: http://www.learningthai.com/downloads/funthai2.zip

or here: http://www.thai-info2004.com/files/the-fun...als-of-thai.zip

Not sure if they are the same as the book or not.

OOH That might be it, I am going to try and find the actual printed book. I looked at the e-book and it might be a bit too junior for my level of thai now. But anything always helps!!!

Thank you!!!

best wishes

I was going to suggest it was that book as well. The cover was indeed black. I think it was one of the best books around. What I liked about it is that they started you off learning the alphabet right away, no monkeying about learning phonetic systems, etc.
