BANGKOK: -- Police have arrested a man suspected of involvement in several bomb attacks in Bangkok during the six-month long protests staged by the People’s Democratic Reform Committee in Bangkok.

The suspect, 42-year old Apichart, aka Akkee, Puangpetch, was arrested at a house in Soi Rong Pak Saladaeng off Phaholyothin road in Phya Thai district. He was presented to the media at a press conference held on Tuesday at the headquarter of the First Region Provincial Police Bureau.

Pol Gen Somyos Poompanmuang, the deputy national police chief, said that a warrant had been issued for the arrest of Apichart by the Saraburi military court on charges of having in possession of illegal firearms which included hand grenades.

He attributed Apichart’s arrest to follow-up investigation after the seizure of a substantial haul of war weapons in Wang Noi district of Ayutthaya. The probe showed that the suspect was allegedly involved in several bomb attacks at the PDRC protest sites by supplying hand grenades to other perpetrators in the same gang, he said.

However, it was not certain whether the suspect was involved in the fatal bomb attacks at Banthadthong and at Lak Si in Bangkhen district.

Also presented at the same press conference was Worapon Polmaiwongdee who was arrested in Chon Buri with five hand grenades in his possession.

amazing how it takes a coup for the utterly corrupt/useless bib to do their jobs...they should also have a place in the dock for impersonating policemen

Good to see another violent criminal off the streets.

In other news, I wonder how that red shirt jail is coming along?

Funny, neither of them look like Suthep.

The PDRC guards that committed serious crimes were apprehended and prosecuted just like the red shirts. But in fact 90% of the kills and all of the children massacred were done by reds. Also those grenade attacks that were supposedly self inflicted.. now proven to be reds too.

Guys like you must cry in their sleep that their government is not in place to stop real police work and now the world knows what animals the reds were for killing kids. Driving into a crowd and opening fire and throwing grenades.. I think that is a bit more serious as carrying weapons to protect protesters against beasts like that.

Though what they did was illegal but understandable because of the constant thread by the red terrorists. The PDCR that really went too far are in jail because some of them behaved like animals and have harmed people. They were just criminals and are now also prosecuted (as it should)

I suggest one directs one's question to General Prayuth Chan-Ocha. I believe he may know.

I suspect that if they had permits, there will be no problems.

Breathe deeply.

Although Chalerm is a master of disguise...

The "same gang" in the Wang Noi haul was also how Red Shirt/Thaksin Classmate Manas Paorik was also arrested after eventually turning himself in 10 days ago.

The Red Shirt "gang" of bombers and shooters is unraveling on each other.

He didn't even get the number right. There were estimated to be 2,500 guards, some of them armed for protecting the protestors.

But hey, what's a Kittirat 'white' lie to a red shirt supporter.
