Want to buy a Tablet computer

Featured Replies

Will be in Bangkok later this week for only a day. I see lots in the shopping malls here in Chiang Mai from 4k, didn't even bother to look at as I'm quite fussy when it comes to gadgets.
Looking for min 8in screen, HD or fhd for the larger ones, good speed processor quad core at least, jelly bean android pre-installed, and preferably without the bloatware or spyware already installed :)

Was really keen on the Nexus but where can you get that here matching UK Amazon prices? Tried in Chiang Mai where I'm staying, and nobody has them. Any in Bangkok and at what price?

I know there must be some quality Chinese tablets matching the OEMs. I've already owned a Umi C1 mobile phone a Chinese smartphone and they've come a long way. So I assume there must be Chinese tablets of quality knocking about in Bangkok at least. Any suggestions and where to buy please?

Thanks

Just seen the Pipo T9 and it seems pretty nifty, I wonder what the availability in BKK is hmm?

Okay done my research and it's between the Nexus 7 (2013) vs Pipo T9 vs Samsung Note 8

What price can I expect to pay for these and I'm assuming Bangkok is my best bet for getting a competitive price?

Thanks

Nexus 7 (2013) is 7 inch so not the minimum 8 inches you prefer. 13,500 baht at most places for the 32GB Wi-fi model but there might be better offers at MBK. In Australia and the US they sell for about $299.

Some good alternatives available from China, but if something fails... warranty and time to repair can be an issue.

Samsung tablets have a lot of Samsung apps installed... bloatware or useful, you decide.

No need to go to BKK for this. Have a look at this thread here. I just saw the Note 8 3G for 12'600 Baht here. I am very happy with the Note 8, exactly what I need when I'm away from my main computer, not to mention when there is blackout at home (twice today!)

I keep on seeing Lazada being mentioned, is this some kind of Amazon but for Asia. Can you get the shops in BKK to match their online prices I wonder?

So far really happy with the note 8, big enough to browse and be effective on the net and small enough to bring everywhere and the amazing thing is you can also use it as a phone as my edition takes a sim. Battery seems okay. I think maybe it could be better but then again I would go a bit goggle eyed if I was to use it to the point the battery dies. I think the key is turning esp gps or wifi off when not needed and turning brightness down. My old sony xperia ultra had stamina mode which turnred off push notifications only sms was left running in the background. Helped greatly. Maybe there is an app for the note 8.
