HUA HIN:-- The 6th Annual Hua Hin International Triathlon is coming to the Black Mountain Water Park on Saturday 9th August.

This prestigious event gives elite athletes the chance to win the Queen’s Cup a week after HM Queen Sirikit’s birthday. This is one of the largest triathlons in Southeast Asia, and at an Olympic standard with a total distance of 51.5km. This consists of 1.5km swimming, 40km cycling and 10km running.

There is also a duathlon which includes a 5km run, a 40km cycle and a further 10km run. The triathlon is open to all men and women above the ages of 18, who can enter individually or in teams of three. The duathlon is open to individual men and women above the age of 16.

There is also a youth triathlon for boys and girls in three categories- a 100m swim, 5km cycle and 1km run for kids between the ages of seven and nine; a 200m swim, 10km ride and 2km run for kids between the ages of 10 and 12; and a 400m swim, 10km ride and 2km run for those between the ages of 13 and 15.

Last year there were 500 competitors from many different nations involved. With increasing recognition, expectations are high for an even greater number this year. The Black Mountain Water Park provides a great spectator experience and the chance to see some of the fittest athletes on the planet!
