Does My Daughter Get Dual Citizenship?

Featured Replies

Thanks for all who gave me advice for me asking about how i go to get my soon to be new born baby getting citizenship for Australia,

I am wanting to know if the baby gets a dual citizen or just Australian citizenship after i have taken all the documents to Australian embassy? I am applying for citizenship by decent,

With my g/f as she has been 2 times to Australia before but we are going to apply for 6 months visa, do i have to tell them we will marry in Australia? Or can we marry and then afterwards get all the paperwork going for her to become a citizen of Australia?

Also because last time we put app in for visa to Australia for 6 months the app centre wanted my girlfriend to have xray and she was pregnant and could not so they gave her 3 months, The question here is do we have to go to the hospital they specify for xray or can we go to Suriat Hospital as the costs in the private hospital i beleive r very high.. Hope i can get a few more answers.. Thanks kindly tinytot

The Oz embassy can only issue citizenship by decent for Oz, so she gets that from them.

Unless things have changed you have to apply for the spouse visa off shore.

There are a list of approved hospitals, you need to get the paper work from embassy for the doctors to fill in

Your daughter was born to a Thai citiizen in Thailand....as such she is automatically a Thai national. Her Thai birth certificate says as much.

Once you apply for the OZ citizenship, she will then be Australian after the 10day processing time, at which stage she'll have both.

Both nations have no issue with dual nationality - so yes, she will be both.

The other questions have been answered already so I will respond to this question.

You do not have to tell them you are getting married in Oz. You can marry her while she is on a visitors visa. However being married does not ensure a successful Spouse visa application.

If you tell them you intend to marry here they may ask you to apply for a fiance visa instead of a tourist visa. The drawback is that after the marriage and before her Fiance visa expires she will have to apply for the spouse visa to enable her to stay here and gain eventually permanant residency.
