Outside soi 96 they started doing roadwork recently.

Prior to that we had a road wide enough for 3 lanes of traffic (or 2 + 1 for parking) and a motorcycle lane, with a somewhat haphazard U-turn bay.... all gloriously chaotic in a typically Thai way, but everyone seemed to handle it - no harm, no foul.

Enter the road gangs! "Great!" I thought, they are going to neaten it up like they did down at soi 104 with S-Lanes for through traffic and a slip lane to formalize the U-turn.

Wrong! They just chopped one lane off, making the median super wide, no slip lane, and re-marked the kerb to allow parking in some of the areas which are now narrowed to only 2 lanes ... guaranteeing chaos as some of the traffic in lane 2 will want to U-turn and some will want to go straight ahead, no separation and everyone madly trying to merge because of that plus the parked cars.

OK - I feel better now I have that off my chest. beatdeadhorse.gif

Glad you feel better now......

Traffic management in Thailand is not a strong point of the authorities as you likely know......no-one has a clue how to fix anything traffic related facepalm.gif

.no-one has a clue how to fix anything traffic related

... or anything related. Thais don't think or reason like us and they don't know what logic or efficiency means. You have to learn to live with things that you think are crazy every day.

I really believe if I had mayoral control over Hua Hin for six months I could solve most of the traffic, parking, and polution, and infrastructure problems given the money... which they should have as this should be one of the richest Amphoes in the country with all the land and condominium sales going on... but that will never happen.
