Hey folks,

I have some nerve and muscular issues in my left arm, shoulder, and chest from an injury I sustained a couple months ago. Since the injury I have been primarily getting my spine looked at and have ruled out the need for surgery. While most of the original problems have dissipated, I still have some lingering issues that are beyond the domain of a spinal doctor, and it is time to start focussing on getting these properly diagnosed and treated.

Since my issues are both nervous (apparent motor nerve damage) as well as musculoskeletal (knotted muscles, restricted movement, tightness and some pain) I am not sure whether I should start with an Orthopedist or a Neurologist.

If anyone has any recommendations for a doctor I should start with, I would be very grateful to hear it. I live in Bangkok and am inclined to get treatment at Bumrungrad but recommendations for doctors at other hospitals are welcome.

Please understand I am only looking for MDs. While a chiropractor or acupuncturist or masseuse may well be part of the treatment, I cannot trust them to make the diagnosis, which is my immediate goal. Therefore please hold on to those recommendations for later.

Thanks so much,

DF

I recently had a 2 month episode with Meralgia Pasesthetica..basically a pinched nerve which caused severe leg pain when walking. After trying several local Bangkok hospitals and Neurologists with little success I went with a recommendation from Sheryl on this forum and saw Dr. Wicharn Yingsakmongkul at the Spinal Center at BNH. Dr. Wicharn has trained in the USA and communicates in English very well.

I was very satisfied with the testing and treatment I received, also using the services of Dr Krisna Piravej (also trained in USA) who administered my nerve tests. I was very appreciative that they did not try to push an expensive MRI as other hospitals did.

My condition now seems to be resolved and I give BNH a lot of credit for that.

BNH is not cheap but the level of service is excellent.
