Another branch opening for Rimping?

Featured Replies

A banner just appeared on their web site advising 'something exciting' happening in November.

Can only think another branch might be coming - hope it might be in the Mae Rim area.

Anybody know?

  • My mate hopes for a two-for-one offer on Marmite !

  • There is a very strong rumour that one supermarket will build in Maerim on the corner of the Samoeng road and the 107. It would be nice if it was a Rimping but I doubt that it will be.

Give us the link to the banner. I checked their website, and saw no banner.

Correction and Ooops. Yes there's an announcement, but no details. Shhhh.

They have been building a new supermarket at Kad Farang, Hang Dong for a long time. Maybe that is due to open.

They will be trying to get Chiang Mai covered,to deter the likes

of Foodland,Villa Market from expanding to Chiang Mai.

I did hear a while ago that Villa Market was going to open a store

here, but nothing seems to have come about it.

That rumor has been around for ten years.wink.png

probably the strongest rumour around mae rim traps, was big c, .but that appears to have died a slow death

when mae rim plaza(nick name the oven) was under construction several yrs back, they did have a signage adv board on site which showed a pic of rimping store, but alas it appears that was false advertising

since opening makcro have a steady stream of customers, and appear to be trading very well indeed

my laymans guess is big c for mae rim, on the mae tang side as both districts are thriving, and the majoe 1001 h/w ,now goes to the 107 h/w ,so the majoens and sansains are in the picture too,and not forgetting the choi dians as wellbiggrin.png

plus that uni at that particular junction(107/1001)is earmarked for further development., its the roving maerimite reporter signing off, and a very nice afternoon to allsmile.png

Look at the banner again and consider what the brief to the graphic designer was.

There gonna start selling make up and lingerie.......and you don't get many of them to the pound.

I removed a potentially damaging rumor and reply to it. Rumors can be dangerous so post with this in mind.

It's probably the long awaited opening at Kad farang--but, my guess is that won't be ready by November 2015--let alone 2014.

Thy're going to sell mince pies at only double UK prices?

Mmm, Tesco Finest, 99p, BOGOF on a carton of 6. First pack usually gone by the time I left the store.

Another banner on their site announcing a launch on 28 November, which is a Friday.

Where will it be - anybody heard anything?

That's not a surprise, it's normal. wink.png

Might be the start of their online shopping.

Today a clerk in Rimping Kad Farang ( a stones throw from the new construction) said around the new year it will be ready. 3 km from my house WHA HOO !

I popped in to Rimping at JJ Market and found it to be dark and un-inviting as well as having a much smaller choice than most of their other stores. Practically nothing of a bakery, just a few loaves and a pastry or two. It should be called a Rimping Express or something like that. The low lighting gave it an almost eerie atmosphere!

Yeah - I'm waiting for that one too - it's going to be huge by the looks of it....we lived down that road during about half of the construction - but we're only 7-10 minutes away now.....

This is one of a number of Rimping Grocery stores which are more like a superior convenience store. So they have already done what you suggest.

word out in the main street of mae rim, is that rimps is coming to that site, which was oringnally touted as the BIG C site

ideal location, but being interpreted,by some misinformed pundits , as out in the boonies, perhaps a long shot

but bluweyze, maybe a nice bet at good odds, smile.png will attend all trackwork, and pass any late mail to the board,

Rimping at JJ Market and the one in front of Arcade Bus Station are really not worth going to. They are nothing more than convenience stores with almost no produce or fresh foods. The one in front of the bus station does have a mini bakery - one oven and a few offerings but no fresh bread.

It would be nice to see a bit of competition, and possibly Foodland or Villa would stock different things to Rimping.

Be the change that you wish to see in the world.

Just saw the new CityLife mag, and checked www.rimping.com.

It's not a new store (unfortunately!) but a 2-day evening event at Promenada 28-29 November called "Rimping in the Park - Farmer's Market"

Tickets 200 Baht including food, beverages and entertainment. Proceeds to go to a Boy's Home.

Looks like fun - but still wish we had a Mae Rim branch!

Kad Farang opening is still a way off but Wine Connections, complete with restaurant ,should be open any day now.

Lets hope WC do well but with the recent price increase in imported wine I would think consumption has decreased..well it has for me anyway.

We were told on our last rip to Rimping, Kad Farang that it will be late November but that might just have been a wild or hopeful guess.

Re Rimping bakery items, just a whinge, buying bread at Mae Hia branch the bread is invariable stale.be nice for consumers if a baked on XXXX date was available as buying supposed quality bread and

then finding it only suitable for toasting is just not right unless its discounted. Won't happen of course but a big incentive we have to go back to baking our own, with ingredients from Yok

According to Rimping's Supermarket advertisement on the back cover of this months City Life magazine the long awaited Kad Farang opening will be 8am December 14.

Finally !

The Mae Hia branch has many many many stocking problems......only an emegency stop there for us - always under stocked.....

Rim Ping seems to have a hard time stocking versus demand......

Seems Rimping is growing thru growing pains, or growing at the pain of customer satisfaction. Stock levels are haphazard. Nothing worse than having to visit 3 stores for basics like juice, cereal and frozen foods.

On a +ve note, British India Restaurant curries @ 99Bt are excellent. :)

Rimping has always been like that, nothing new there. This is typical 3rd world logic on lack of western business sense. They do not know how to pre order. I have seen this attitude in other 3rd world countries, run out then order and you might see it in another year.
