Dear Members,

I have recently completed the elusive Appendix 2 (VAF 4A November 2012) Financial Requirement Form, having been unaware of this form at the time of submitting our supporting documents at Trendy last week. Unobservant me, yet again.

Upon handing over our docs last week, VFS gave us the Appendix 2 VAF 4A and told us it must be completed and returned to The British Embassy within 28 days. Of course, at this juncture we are without our submitted documents and although we had photocopied some of them, alas not all of them. However we managed to complete the questionnaire, we hope satisfactorily, though there remain some areas of doubt.

Incidentally I cannot believe I am being asked for the date of birth of my previous spouse (British), the date of our marriage and the name and address of the church we were married in - ancient history now. To find this out I had to email her. Fortunately we are in contact but if not - a failed application?

(Queery 1) There are some ambiguous questions in the form, such as 1.25 'Do you and your sponsor have any shared financial responsibilities?' By that it appears that they are referring to any debts or liabilities we might have, not allowing for the possibility that we may share the responsibility of managing our assets. I'm unsure whether my spouse should answer 'yes' or 'no' to this. So she has responded with a 'yes' and an explanation in the box "We have no debts or liabilities. We share the financial responsibility of renting out or selling our fully owned property (details submitted with our visa application). Ideas?

(Queery 2) Although I can meet the financial requirement under Cash Savings Category D Part 3F, it seems that she should also complete Part 3D (Income form other non-employment sources) - or should she not complete this part?

We have been told by the staff at VFS, Trendy to send our completed Appendix 2 form by post to: 'The British Embassy, Bangkok'. That does seem a little risky, even to do so by EMS.

(Queery 3) Does anyone have a view on the best method to ensure that this document reaches the right person at the right time? Presumably a covering letter and a visa reference number would help. Fortunately I kept a copy of the application so can refer to the application ID when sending the completed Appendix 2.

Any suggestions on the above points gratefully received!
