Dinner at the airport before leaving

Featured Replies

I'll be flying cattle class Wednesday night after 20 pm and want more than decent food before leaving.

I highly recommend the buffet at the nearby Novotel, you can just walk through a tunnel at the airport rail link or take their minibus.

The buffet is top quality and well worth the 999 baht net (I had many buffets in 5* hotels - and lesser hotels - and this one is top - I'll spare you the list of delicious food I did eat last month there) buffet starts 18.00.

I'll pass the airline food for that night...

Isn't there also a good restaurant somewhere upstairs in the departure hall?

OP, enjoy your meal and have a safe flight.

For me 999Baht net would give me biiiiiiiiig indigestion.

That is a 'good night out' or birthday meal price for me and I wouldn't want something so big before flying.

Most of the restaurants I have tried are very average and I would would prefer to go and have something in the ground floor food court.

999 baht !!! Exorbitant price !!!! you can buy two average Burger King Meals ,either air or land side , for that ! . smile.pngbiggrin.png

Does he get one free if posts on TV thumbsup.gif

Definitely no restaurant in the departure hall.

Some food chain places in the lower floor (3?).

Some places before the departure gates (duty free mile).

Crazy overpriced. Fried rice 200 Baht. No thanks.

I am happy with the Thai food staal in the outermost corner of the basement (<100 Baht) tongue.png

Suvarnabhumi is no place for gourmets.

For me it is just in/out.

Dear lobber,

I have been flying in/out Bangkok 2x/year for 20 Years and always wondered where to get better than average food at the airport. And since I am flying in domestically I have no time to go down town.

If you are happy with lousy economy airline food for 12 hours in a row that's fine for you, not for me. If you enjoy the Magic food court food you can get at any Thai shopping mall that's fine for you also, not for me. Do you like the lousy food at any of the third floor cafés, ok, not me.

Not you, but some other passengers might want real food before sitting for 12 hours in a metal cage. Maybe there is some other real restaurant hidden in the entrails of Suvarnabhumi.

It seems from your idiotic reply that you have no clue, thank you.

"decent food" has a lot of possible definitions. To me, I love eating downstairs in that food court type of area. is the food the highest quality? No. is it tasty? yes. the duck over noodles is pretty darn good. Plus the ambience and feel of being in Thailand makes it all the better. My first choice at the airport by far. I fly EVA Premium elite class and usually have about a 2 hour wait for my bus so this little walk down stairs to me, is part of the vacation experience.

I'm sure that I've paid as-little-as B260 for a basic Burger-King meal, airside.

But it is a Happy Ending meal,...OOOP's Sorry, meant a Happy Meal........whistling.gif

Glad the buffet dinner was good. Their buffet breakfast was a real letdown.

Indeed, the breakfast buffet was nothing fancy and at 500B, luckily bf was included in room price when I stayed at Novotel last July.

But I made it to the 18.00 buffet, excellent.

Also found Nad Jour via Google, seems to be a coupon restaurant domestic side level 1, seems you need to leave the airport building, near the gardens.

On the lowest floor where the buses leave from there is a food hall where all the workers go. Far better value and as decent as the usual Thai food. In fact, the food in the Thai airways lounge is getting so bad now that rather than go to the lounge which I can do for free id rather just go to the food court and pay.

Last couple times I was in the Thai lounge I thought the food had improved.

The Chinese restaurant at the Novotel Suvarnabhumi is very good too, though definitely not for cheap charlies. I've eaten there a couple of times when I had a very early AM departure the next morning. You have to make an effort to find it though. If coming in from the front entrance you turn immediately to your right and go down a corridor of empty shops then make a left.

Very well said.

Its a terrible shame that there is no good Thai restaurant at Suvarnbhumi....the place at the corner of the basement is closest but not great....simply canteen food.

The "place at the corner of the basement" is called Magic Food Court..................and excellent value thumbsup.gif
