If you do not already know what an Oculus Rift is, it is a Virtual Reality device that allows you to experience gaming in full 360 immersive 3D as if you were really physically inside a game.

"The Oculus Rift is a new virtual reality headset that allows players to step inside their favorite games and completely immerse themselves in the virtual world."

I was thinking about charging 100 Baht for 20 minutes of use for my Oculus Rift here in ChiangMai.

I may be offering this service if enough people are interested in it.

A couple of quid to try out for 20 mins, yes definitely.

Six pounds an hour to play games, probably not, but I'm not an avid game player.

Great idea! That sounds much better, I will do that. Tks! You will be given free 20 minutes of usage for this smile.png Will keep you all posted on when I'll begin this, should I decide to.

Maybe a good idea would be, try for free (a couple of minutes) and then if you like you have to pay ?

for example

5 minutes Free

10 Minutes 50 THB

20 Minutes 100 THB

30 Minutes 150 THB

Just an idea

Naw, it's perfectly safe for seniors over that age.

Check out this video:

Oculus Rift: Tested by 70-year-old

Are people over 67 allowed to use this?

Or they will be lost in there, due to suffering from old age dementia?

I'm only asking on behalf of a "friend" of mine.

Let me see, if I had the choice of playing a computer game or slamming my private parts in a car door......gimme the car door every time.

I never understood computer games. Much rather get on the track, get on the course, get on the court, get in the water, or get in the bush.

Don't suppose it would be possible to do away with the game and use one of them movies that can be obtained on the internet or from street stalls and have a full on experience rather than spend two or three hundred baht buying lady drinks and engaging in negotiations about price per hour in a noisy smelly bar. Just supposing !!!

You cannot marry a headset.

Is there a "game" to simulate "lady action"?

The free 5 minutes would be enough thumbsup.gif

That long?

The 5 minutes includes a beer break in the middle.

I voted never but if it was right there in my travels I would give it a shot. When I say right there I do not mean across the street. Right in the middle of a mall and no line up.

I'd try it as a one time deal....wouldn't go out of my way to seek it out but if happened upon it would give it a go.....

And there is your unique selling point. All the action and no lasting side effects. :-)

Is your unit DK1 or 2 and what software do you have to demo it on?

I'm not a games player (last one I got involved with was Myst, if you're old enough to remember that) but this device is really cutting edge and I think your only current chance to take a glimpse of the future of this technology would be at a trade show or science museum. If you think this VR stuff is going to be limited to games and adult entertainment then you're in the same class as Thomas J Watson, head of IBM who, back in 1943, allegedly said "I think there is a world market for maybe five computers". I bet they'll be doing driving tests (or at least tuition) using one of these in 10 years time. Please PM or make an announcement if you're going to go ahead with this - I'm in.

By the way, I doubt if it's any kind of a money maker if you aim to interest TV members but I bet the word would get around the the university and internet game shop crowd in no time and the reaction would be a lot more positive.

I cannot quite understand the pricing model.

You have an internet shop and are half thai so no work permit problem.

Each of the computers you have in your shop would cost at least 300 dollars and you provide seating and internet for 10 baht an hour.

An oculus-rift headset costs $350 probably less than $500 landed here even if couriered and taxes paid.

You are hoping to charge 100 baht for 20 minutes.

You probably have a good market in your shop but not at that price.

People may try once from curiosity to see what it is like but you would not get much repeat business at that price,.
