Why do the prices vary so much?

Are some s5's worse than others? For example the s4 is the same price as some s5's and some s5's are about 30% more....

Are the cheaper ones older generations of the models?

Also can the buyers on lazada be trusted or is it like ebay where you have to check their rep etc.

Any advice would this would be great.

Some are imported, usually it tells you. Also at the moment Samsung are doing a deal were you get a Tablet free. Some companies are getting the deal and then selling separate.

Thx

But what is the difference/ advantage to buying an imported one? Are the I'm guessing thai ones- the cheaper ones not as good?

I like thor prices but as I live in Australia and am just visiting Thailand , am I better off buying one here? Will the cheaper ones work in oz?

You need to check the 3g/4g frequencies for the phone are compatible with Australia. For example in Thailand the old DTAC 3g system was 850mhz and the new system is 2100mhz. In Australia for Telstra it is reversed and you really need the 850mhz band, The S5 is quad band 3g but there are differences in models as to what frequencies they have, From Invadeit.co.th it shows the model available in Thailand as the G900F which is the European standard, then from GSMarena.com looking at the specs for the S5 it shows they are compatible with Telstra. Telstra uses 1800mhz for 4g which is also available on the G900F. The 2g (GSM) on the S5 is quad band which is pretty much standard and will work with everything in Australia.

So basically if you buy a G900F model in Thailand then it should be good for Telstra 2g, 3g, 4g. Not sure about Vodafail or Opeless. Just found Mobicity.com has all the Australian frequencies.

I use my Thai Samsung mobile in Australia with an Australian Sim and no problems on the phone side. Just a problem with the 3g and not having the 850mhz frequency available as my phone is for AIS Thailand, so I will be looking to update to something like the S5 before my next trip back to Australia.

As far as I can tell the Samsung phones are the same in Aust or Thailand. If you go to MBK level 4 you can actually negotiate a deal at some of the shops. I use one particular shop up the back towards Powerbuy and the opposite side of the building to Tokyu. From memory it is about 10 stalls back from Powerbuy and near some stalls that sell phone covers and will have the price displayed on the phones displayed in the glass case. I have always got a good deal from this shop, hence why I keep going back. I originally found this shop by just looking at prices displayed, but I normally have the TGF with me and she remembers exactly where the shop is.

Cheers

That is a really helpful post, really appreciate your effort mate.

Well, lazada has some great prices but it's description of the products aren't as good. It just s5 charcoal black , unfortunately no model/ band freq breakdown for the s5

http://www.lazada.co.th/samsung-galaxy-s5-charcoal-black-327473.html

I'm pretty confused now. I'm thinking of buying the below link just to be on the safe side. I can't see that much difference between an s4 and s5 anyway

http://www.allphones.com.au/phones/samsung-galaxy-s4/

Are all the products genuine on lazada or do u hv to be careful?
