Need to put anything into drained sewage tank ?

Hi,

I just got scammed and got 5,000 bill for cleaning sewage tank. Beware!

But luckily they indeed cleaned it.

My question is: do I need to put anything into "self served" septic tank ?

I'd be going to the police - that's just an insane price.

As for what needs to go back in, depends on what type of tank it is. Is it a multi-chamber design, or just a single chamber?

Provided you haven't put loads of toxic cleaners or stuff through it it will get going by itself.

You can buy packs of 'starter' from most hardware stores (flush it down the loo) but in reality they work just fine with the naturally occurring organisms in the effluent.

As Crossy says don't use toxic cleaners.

I use half a pack about every six months. Just flush down the loo.

Family of 5, have had no problems in 10 years
