NCB warns customers of fraudulent scams online

BANGKOK, 19 September 2014 (NNT) - The National Credit Bureau (NCB) has warned the public to be aware of online fraudsters who claim that they are able to remove names of debtors on the NCB’s blacklist.

According to NCB Managing-Director Surapon Opassathien, there have been an increasing number of online scammers who offer credit card services, ATMS, and personal loans for customers who are unable to obtain loans since their names are on the NCB’s blacklist for defaulting on their payments.

Mr. Surapon, however, reiterated that the NCB has never made any attempt to blacklist anyone from obtaining loans. Instead, the NCB is simply putting the names of debtors who have outstanding loans on its database to keep a record about their credit history.

He advised members of the public to contact legitimate financial institutions in case they want to partake in any financial transactions or seek additional loan credits.

I prefer my scams face to face. Online is so impersonal, lacks dramatic qualities I've come to expect from good local scam....

are they sure these are not part of a big gang with infiltration into their business ? for a few (ten) thousand baht, underpaid somchai might really be able to delete their name

all scam and illegal, but you know how thais are about that.. if it profits them

So I've been getting SMS noticed from BKK Bank for a while now. Each and every time I take it to the branch, and each and every time they call the head office and say it's legit BUT I should not reply to it, just in case. But the funny part is, no one at the local level knows anything, ever. I have multiple accounts with them and I only get this notice on one account, so regardless of what anyone says there, I've dismissed it as a scam of some sorts.
