Social Development Min: Human trafficking situation in better direction

BANGKOK, 26 September 2014(NNT) – Minister of Social Development and Human Security Adul Saengsingkaew has confirmed much progress in the effort to curb human trafficking activities in Thailand as all authorities involved abide by the international standard approach.

Pol Gen Adul recently met with officials from concerned agencies, including the Social Development and Human Security Ministry, Foreign Affairs Ministry, Labor Ministry and Department Special Investigation, in order to be briefed on the current situation of human trafficking. All the information received from the meeting will be compiled into a report to be submitted to the United States for acknowledgement and will be used to draw up more preventive measures and solutions.

Following the discussion, Pol Gen Adul assessed that Thailand’s human trafficking problem had lately been reduced in severity. He attributed the improvement largely to related agencies’ understanding and adherence to the 5Ps approach, which comprises prosecution and law enforcement, protection and rehabilitation, prevention, policy and supporting mechanisms, and partnerships against human trafficking.

Moreover, he revealed that a special fast-track channel had been established for human trafficking-related cases in order to speed up the prosecution of perpetrators.

The Social Development and Human Security Minister pointed out that Thailand’s accomplishments in the anti-human trafficking effort had so far prompted the US to hold off on sanctions against the country, allowing exports of Thai goods to continue unaffected.

In related news, the Natural Fruit Company drop all charges against Human Rights Violation activist, Andy Hall, and the Thai Navy drops defamation charges against Phuketwan journalists.

Oh, sorry, my mistake, that didn't happen.

My first thought. They found more destinations for human trafficking.

Then use the Thai word for Min and you know that the Social Development smells fishy. Min. Or Mehnn. Maybe Maak.

How many people have been prosecuted? The US report made it very clear that a key piece of evidence in their downgrade was that no one had been prosecuted....we need to see the slavers in jail....what is so hard about that to understand? Get the navy to go out and stop ships and see if the workers have money in their pockets and are free of bruises...if not, arrest the captain and impound his boat.
