Pol.Gen. Somyot told the British ambassador that Thai police are working at their fullest capacity to solve the case, and stressed that the investigation takes time.

Yes, exactly 2 more days, thought I did read that we could expect arrests by then.

We don't need their help but if it makes the families feel better then thats good.

What do you mean you don't need their help, you need every bit of help you can get! You've been running round in circles achieving nothing so far.

The fundamental problem with her post is the use of the pronoun 'we'.

There has been a lot of negativity about how the police and authorities have handled this - and with good reason.

When you take this criticism to be personal and a slur on Thai people, you end up going on the defensive and just about saying anything that contradicts (even if incredibly stupid and insensitive)

Any criticism I've had has been geared solely at the police and authorities. Some foreigners and Thais on here need to be able to differentiate.

Not in a 1000 years Thailand will accept help from any foreign county in this case...

Britain showed Thailand a lot of mercy in WW2 and assisted them against the French when they were Siam. About time they did something for us!

But then Churchill denied a request for help from the thai PM when the Japanese invaded & occupied thailand because Britain was already overextended in Malaysia & Burma.

The thais have never forgotten this & have since then steered the country away from it's previous affinity with the UK towards American friendships.

Yeh, but they showed great mercy on the most important person/location in Thailand when they were bombing Bangkok

Dear England

Our police force is trained to the highest standard. We have world renowned training and a spotless record of investigations into the murder of tourists. While we appreciate the offer for your Scotland Yard trained personnel who likely come with Ph.D.'s in forensic image analysis, we have located a new police cadet that used to run the movie projector at his high school movie club that will be perfectly capable of continuing our excellence in solving the deaths of foreigners. Should we decide that at some point we will require your services, we will ensure that every piece of DNA evidence is contaminated, all fingerprints smudged and all video erased from the tapes. Then we will kindly ask you to come over (at your expense of course, DNA tests are costing us 5000 baht each, you would think someone could find us a deal due to the volume of business we are bringing them). Upon our request for your attendance, we will make sure to ask you to book your rooms early, as the lack of tourists coming will obviously affect hotel and transportation costs, as in true fashion when times are tough we triple the price of all accommodations, meals and transportation for foreigners.

Sincerely yours

Chief Clancyporn Wiggumsak

Spot on.

Where is that woman in charge of forensics and nicknamed Dr Death?

She is always very expert at finding out who is who.

I suppose its the same as other cases where TV guys have proven correct in suggesting things are not straight ahead!

foreign investigators who arrive on LOS soil usually die shortly after - when face savings is quickly needed

To me, the kicker is that the bodies have been sent home, and the bodies contain the DNA evidence.

DOH! It can't be covered up now, and I am sure Scotland Yard, who have always been focused and intelligent people who are not to be trifled with, have already obtained samples and have registered evaluations.

Pawn to Queen's bishop three, you idiots!

You have now officially brought a knife to a gunfight.

Idiots.

Look for a new law refusing to send overseas remains until a 'thorough' investigation yields the results they want.

Checkmate!

Sing on new Thai trolls, sing on!

She got caught out backing the fake bomb detectors and was last seen crawling half way up Khun Suthep's backside,

Amazing Thailand

THIS STINKS OF CORRUPTION fit up

i think we have a case if too do not confess something nasty will happen to your family or they give them the million baht that being passed around

from trying to bribe taxi drivers to stitch up innocent people to this

the police couldent catch a cold

Anything that could reveal the true killers will be rejected by the corrupt officials in charge.

Think Thailand should be charged with whatever it can be charged with by an international court for allowing this dirty coverup. There must be ways to legally enforce a new investigation led by English investigators only to rip this case wide open and arrest the true killers AND the cops involved in this shameful "investigation".

Really? You need foreign help to do just about everything else - build dams, tall buildings, a transit system, teach you about the concept of DNA testing - not to mention sell you the video cameras in the first place.

Surely this person must be a troll.

That's a shame! Never thought a clever person like her would be rimming a nutcase like Suthep... Well, we never stop learning, do we? :(

British government offers to send technicians to help check VDO footage

BANGKOK: -- British Ambassador to Thailand Mark Kent told Police Commissioner General Pol Gen Somyos Pumphanmuang that the British government is willing to dispatch video experts to help scan security camera footage on Koh Tao.

The video rechecking was offered as a measure to try to locate killers of two British tourists on the island on September 15, Somyos said.

Don't feed the troll. If that person is a Thai with prose like that then I'm a Chinaman.
