Whole House Water Filter/Purifiers

Featured Replies

Three Items:

The First:

We've just moved out of our long standing condo home and into a new (old) house, there's are a few things to be done. The first on my list is installation of a water filtration system for the entire house, you know, one of those space ship devices that sit outside the back door!

Can anyone recommend a particular make/supplier/source, the house is only two bed two bath, 150 sq metres, two occupants plus dogs!

Second:

We finally have a drive way and garden of our own again, trouble is the wheeled gate to the drive is manual, that has to end!

Can anyone recommend a product/installer to install am electronic gate opener?

Third:

Ground floor window security is not the best.

Does anyone have a good source for aluminum window security locks and screens?

As always, any sensible feedback is very welcome, with thanks.

PS: we love our new home. it's brilliant.

Can you give a general location as to where the new (old) house is located?

Also, a water filtration system is best matched to the issues of the water source. Maybe you should get the water tested first.

Any odd smells or color?

What is the source of water?

City, pre-filtered pre-treated

Villiage, dam or river, unfiltered

Community well, aerated but usually unfiltered

Private well

If you bring a 500 ml bottle of your water to Ruangsangthai Builders Merchants in Buriram, Mr. Picahi the owner has it sent via EMS to a water testing lab in Bangkok at no charge. He told me today that he has a water filter company representative who speaks English as one of the vendors of the Buriram Home Show on Tuesday October 14 and Wednesday October 15th. If you are near Buriram you can get a price quote from Pure Water Filter near the Big C and Toyo Tire shop,, a different water filtration shop just past Big C very near Makro, from Buriram Supply a Siemens Appliance Dealer, from Home Pro, Thaiwatsadu or Buriram IQ. They each sell different water filtration system brands. I think it is important to ask in advance the "refill" costs, including labor, of any water filter system you are thinking about installing in Buriram or any province in Thailand.

I would go for everyting who has a Fleck valve...

If that is the case you will not need full house water filtration,BUT i still would not drink the water,

it will be OK for everything else, just filter the water through a RO filter with U.V. Light for drinking,

but they must be maintained on a regular basis to work properly, personally i would just buy water

from a reputable company like Glacier Pure Water, they deliver 2 times a week.

Regarding the electric gate opener, try Global house, they sell them

and i think they can recommend an installer.

The op is over 850 km from Buriram. There are sources in CNX that can do this.wink.png

Water filters [and tanks] sold and installed ex small shop on Canal Road south of Mae Hia market and Mali Place Rimping - in same complex as Empress Dental/Kwan's Kitchen. Owner has limited English but offers best advice and quality install. We put a large sediment filter on the mains to tank and have 3 stage incl, carbon and ceramic, under-bench unit. Drinking water quality is excellent.

Global sell a gate opener @ ~14,000 for a 4m system but you'll need a local guy to install motor on concrete pad and weld the drive sections on the bottom of gate. PM for local Mae Hia/Hang Dong guy.

I have not seen aluminium security screens. Thai's have steel bars fitted. All local welding shops do them.

There's a previous thread of this in the CNX forum with address and telephone number if I remember well. Was linked to CNX university...

Actually, it looks as if GH is getting out of the gate opener market. They only have a couple of the swing type left on show and reduced the price to 18k.

Global always runs temporarily out of stock with their gateopeners.

The sliding and swing gate openers at GH are 9900 Bht, How you come to a 18.000 Bht quotation?

I don't like the idea of security grills on windows,I would much rather a

burglar carried off what he could, than me or my family been burnt to a crisp

because i could not get out of the house,as the windows were barred, when

a fire breaks out. property can be replaced, you only have one life.

Use other ways first to secure your property, its as simple as leaving a radio

on when you go out, pairs of shoes,a bike left outside your door, lights at night,

to fitting alarms.if a burglar wants to get in your house,he will, just have to make

them go to the house next door, who is not taking any precautions at all.

For a really good water filtration system, try MasterFilter (on HangDong Rd right beside the big Gifferene building.

Base price for motor: 9,900 + drive components, remote controls etc.

It's for gates that swing and so there are two motors etc. The price for a long time was around 20k and it may be that they will get them and the sliding type back in stock but I wouldn't hold your breath.

Many thanks for loads of really helpful leads, between them all I think I can find the answers, the water filtration shops were just what I was hoping I might find.

Let me push my luck a little :), I'm also in need of a good screen door/window shop, Mae Rim or nearby, any clues?

Our house Is concrete and brick and fitted with locally, custom made steel grills and doors. Downstairs we have three external doors.

In Spain, the same is true.

I have no fear about fire.

If the building construction is wood then I would agree with you totally.

However, it would be easy to design the grills to be opened from the inside if you were worried about fire escapes.

Funnily enough the film My Bloody Valentine was on Spanish telly last night and there was a security grill shown with a padlock that could be accessed from both inside and outside.

The best security is for your neighbours to believe that you are broke LOL

wood or aluminum?

Aluminum, please smile.png

There is a shop in Mae Rim that does aluminum. If you are headed North towards Chiang Dao on the main road, go past the traffic light in the center of town and it is on the left side, you will see the aluminum stuff in the shop. It is about about a third of the way down to the next traffic light(Mae Saa Valley turn).

If you want the schuco German alu windows or top quality windows managed by a US farang :

Sure a visit worth in Hang Dong not far from Samoeng intersection...

Six months ago we bought an electric / remote controlled gate system from Thai Watsadu.

Young lady at Thai Watsadu seemed to quite knowledgeable and was very professional and thorough to set it up with the actual installer.

Good professional installation. Should also share, when the installer came he said the steel wheels under the gate needed to be changed because they were the wrong size (not designed for the weight of our gate).

We believed him and he replaced them within an hour, and he was correct, with the new wheels the gate moved with just the smallest of effort.
