Yaowarat Rd in Chinatown. There's a place called "Canton House" located right next to the Chinatown Hotel. Quite decent dim sum at reasonable cost. Can't say how it compares with others, but I've always been happy with it; freshly made, good service, other foods also available on the menu, and very casual atmosphere.

I've been to canton house on Yaworat a few times with the wife and always enjoyed the dim sum there. They are actually part of a chain with few other places around but it doesn't feel like it. They also serve other dishes like roast duck and fish. The service was always good.

The Chinese Restaurant in Thai Wah Tower 2 on South Sathorn Road is excellent with great views.

I saw a restaurant in Central World where all the 20-30 chefs wear a full chef outfit (mouthcover, headcover). I asked my wife what they serve there and she said it was a dimsum restaurant. It looked very professional, even better then in Fuji where they like to take off their mouthcover.

I guess it must be good food there or they would be bankrupt soon with so many chefs.

Oh solly i just saw you asked for Chinatown. Well who wants to go there after an ankle-surgery?

I would not suggest the Canton House CHAIN dim sum for anyone seeking high quality and authentic Chinese dim sum. It IS cheap priced though!

The most popular specialist Dim Sum restaurant in Bangkok amongst my Thai / Chinese friends is China Palace in Siphaya Road.

It's a little difficult to find - coming from Rama IV about 100 meters in on the left hand side, very small sign quite high up; the restaurant is in a small Soi of it's own, parking is available.

Din Tai Fung - Central World or Central Embassy.

To me is.....

If you want cheap go to Canton House (Taste 3/10)

Grand Palace just slightly expensive (Taste 6/10)

Din Tai Fung, this is not a dim sum restaurent.

The Chinese Restaurant in Thai Wah Tower 2 on South Sathorn Road is excellent with great views.

Most people know this building as the Banyan Tree hotel :-)

As someone mentioned Din Tai Fung (Central World or Central Embassy) is a great restaurant but not a dim sum place.

My favorite is the original branch of Hua Seng Hong in Chinatown near the junction of Yaowarat Road and Yaowarat Sois 23 and 6.
