If Russia really wanted to take Australia, who would stop them? They have backing from China, Saudi Arabia and North Korea. Now before you say anything about the US etc remember this… Russia is the biggest producer of gas and oil and China is the the biggest buyer, the saudi's know this as well. All could rid the dollar being the dominant currency and it will happen within the next decade. If they wanted to take America as well they simply start selling all oil and gas in another currency and the dollar crashes. This means that they can literally win a war without even firing a missile. If the dollar crashes, the entire American and Australian economy crashes as well.

They have backing from China, Saudi Arabia and North Korea.

Actually not - Saudi Arabia have been kissing ass of the Americans since the Saudi's found oil. China is not interested in taking any aggression by any country against Australia and the North Korean leader is just a big <snip> up.

For the moment everything is peaceful in the world. Once the war mongers of the Republican's win in two years the Presidential elections we might have a WW3.

Australia has absolute no strategic position in Asia besides being the ass <snip> of any US government.

LOL.

I hope their ships are more modern than their vintage planes.

If they wanted to sit off the G20, they're about 2000km's south of where they need to be.

They can take Melbourne, nobody likes Victorians anyway ! wink.png

Nothing vintage about the Su35 and T50

Also the Russian flotilla has enough firepower to destroy Australia's token navy and i doubt the remnants of it's beat up outdated f/a18 air force could do much, even Indonesia's airforce outclasses it

Of course this would never happen, Australia is sucking China's cock and taking it in the backside from the USA, this is just theatre

I'm not much of an aviation expert, but I do know that the SU 35 has superb low speed maneuverability, almost as good as a Fokker DR1. Unfortunately, for the Russians, air to air combat these days usually results in the design taking the fullest possible advantage of EM principles of dogfighting at high altitude max speed. For that the SU is dog meat. As for the T50, it looks like India already realizes it has bought into a pure dud: http://www.business-standard.com/article/economy-policy/russia-can-t-deliver-on-fifth-generation-fighter-aircraft-iaf-114012100059_1.html

Cute, but image needs to be mirrored, in Australia you drive on the LHS of the road, those arrow markings are on the wrong side, also cop bikes need to be photoshopped white

The rest of the country has never got over the fact that the world's most livable city (Melbourne) was chosen as the countries capital. The sporting capital of Australia where all the major events are held. I can see why the rest of the country is so envious of Victoria. It's a bit like the homeless street urchin looking through the windows of a fine restuarant watching people dine and just imagining the taste and smell. The diners being Vics and the urchin the rest.

Capital for how long - only 26 years. Last sentence is delusional. If you want to live in a city, Sydney is the best place in Oz, generally better resturants, entertainment etc. Melbourne beaches are crap and the sea is freezing cold for most of the year. Melbourne scored 97.5, Sydney 96.6 so only a minor difference in rating.

Those ships could be out there innocently catching whales and Mr Murdoch's papers have blown it all up to suggest that because Valdimer Abbott has spoken to Tony Putin ( they are both equally prize duckheads ) that Australia is in imminent danger of a Phuket style invasion. I am indeed quaking in my crocs. Both of them are boring old blokes who are desperately trying to be the alpha male and need the publicity to enhance their re-election chances on the home front.

How Firetrucking Borrring this whole beat up is.

As previously posted the Russian deployment for exercises in the region had been announced earlier this year, well before the MH17 incident. As you say a media beat-up

Other nations can send their warships where they want... and they do. But nobody questions it.

But when Russia do it, then it is seen as aggression.

You couldn't make it up.

Nato had an exercise in the black sea.....That wasn't an aggression.....

That exercise didn't go so well...

Chooks is a bit delusional, poor b@stard.

I've spent a fair bit of time in Melbourne & some in Sydney. Melbourne won that award once, years ago, big deal. If you were completely unbiased, Sydney has one of the prettiest harbours in the world, many of its beaches are stunning too, it's weather is mostly good ( basically a balance between the nth and Sth ) & without going into a million categories beats Melbourne based on these 3 alone.

The weather in Melbourne is shocking to say the least, it can start out raining at 7am then hail, then get windy, sun blasting at 45 degrees, a dust storm then freezing cold southerly winds and a bit more hail, all by 10am. Seriously it's fekked up.

What I do luv bout Victoria is, one, could live in Melbourne and within 2-3 hours in any direction from there could experience just abut anything with a short drive. It's such a compact state and has virtually everything except a desert.

The sports fans are nutters. The Capital of Oz it will never be.

Apparently it's about to fall like the Ukraine......let's see how they go under Putins control, basically it's Putin, Abbott, same same but different.

The Premier of Victoria is a bumbling idiot.
