Crackdown on land encroachers on Koh Chang

KOH CHANG: -- Seven resorts and bungalows on Chang island or Koh Chang in Trat province have been found to have encroached on the land of the Koh Chang national park and forest reserves.

Officials from the Internal Security Operations Command, park officials and forest guards on Thursday made a field inspection of White Sand beach in Ban Hat SaiKhao and found that seven resorts and bungalows were built on park land.

The team also found out that public land at SanambinLek, Ban KlongPlu and Ban Chaichet, both sides of the Ban Hat SaiKhao-Ban MarbKangkao road were encroached upon. But order was already out to demolish the buildings there.

The crackdown on encroachers on Koh Chang was ordered by the National Council for Peace and Order to settle the problem.

I just had a break from where i live and with my Isaan family we been one more time in this archipelago, visiting Koh Chang, Mak and Kood

Yes is true, Koh Chang is not anymore like before and from long time, koh Mak was reasonable and the surprise was koh Kood!

Thanks to greedy people they are building even the 'government' told them NO!

I saw a farang cutting hundreds years old mangroves to make more visible his coffee place in klong chao zone! and following a popular forum-website for travelers i found a resort with a bar just finished to build over a cliff (french management) !!

Even many Thais are building .. not correct .. but at least is them own land!

Justice, this is what we are looking for...and for all the nationalities!!! thumbsup.gif

GOOD! Too many resorts on the island already. Tear them down , fine them a million baht and time in prison. Maybe they might GET IT!

Fine who?

The legal team that did the paperwork for the resort owners

The officials that stamped the resorts as "fine to build"

The people who sold the land to these resorts

The resort owners

What qualifications do you have that say there are too many resorts? Does it cause environmental problems? Traffic problems?

Please elaborate

How did they build these resorts without the local authorities knowledge.

Act like you own it, proceed with confidence and authority, and people will assume you

have the paperwork/permission and ownership of the land. biggrin.png

no need to go that far

have a look at the restaurants on Bang Saray

and look in a popular trader magazine in Pattaya and it says in big bold letters to buy this condo as its only 75 meters to the beach

so whats the LAW on this one

another 46 story monster condo block in Jomtien

BUT it has EIA approval

yeah sure

Well, there are a number of large resorts that are well known to be encroaching, some have some very powerful links with important people. A number of them have been given numerous notifications. Anyone that lives on the islands knows which are the biggest offenders, and I really don't think that two in particular will come of anything.

Interesting that they have identified Khlong Prao and Whitesands as other places - these may be fairly new notifications. Bang Bao which is in the picture had a few places taken down earlier in the year.

----------------------------

Not always they do.

Let's just say that if someone knows the right people they can get what appear to be valid documents to "own" the land.

Then they tell the people they "sell" the land to that the documents they give the people who buy the land are valid.

By the time the truth is found out, "seller" is long gone.

Or "seller" knows somebody.

When it is to late, the poor guy who thinks he "owns" the land and property finds out the truth, and the "seller" is long gone.

Been that way for years.
