They said i will be refused in other countries because of my thailand refusal stamp. They dont want to let me fly anywhere else than france.

I think they're lying to you. I could be wrong but it's worth double checking.

why you keep questioning the OP.

Over the last couple of month we had many enquiries from people stuck in Airport, majority of people were send back home as the airline refused to take them back from the place they came from.

Example you fly Cambodian Air from Phnom Penh, than the representative of that Airline will arrange a ticket with a "friendly" Airline to return to your home country. Immigration does not care and again, in most cases, the people had to pay for their own ticket.

I think Thai Immigration is looking to much YouTube, they try to copy Border Security of UK, Australia or US and shoot themselves in the leg.

Plan a Dont buy the ticket till you have spoken to your embassy. They cant force you.

Plan b buy a ticket back to hk and refuse to pay for more. They will let you go there. Pass the buck.

Well, Walen, here's the start of your business headed south …. all the way back to Oz.

Immigration are now making their own rules, at each individual office, and at the airport.

The immigration officer can refuse entry without providing a reason. He is the sole arbiter of your entry application, so it is really important to not annoy him or challenge his decision in the early stages of the confrontation interview.

Dear All

I went through almost half the answers, but not a single person replying has asked the gentleman in question why does he need to carry an education visa, why is he learning the language, since when he has been learning and what is the source of his income in Thailand. If he is staying here as a student may be he is not a bonafide student. I hope he is a student but there are many questions which come in mind. He being denied entry is the prerogative of the immigration officer in any country, which is usually not over ruled by other officers. IMHP if he is a long time resident and intend to keep on living here he should get the correct visa which usually involves a lot of money and paper work.

Your embassy can't and won't do a thing.

Thai Immigration can do as they please and little point arguing with them.

Besides, the OP had, apparently, has already purchased a ticket to France.

Though, I fear there's more to this story than meets the eye.

What if the ED visa is for doing a degree in an International program? They are not doing Thai classes so may not have the necessary Thai skills.

A number of posters, including myself have predicted that there was going to be a crackdown on ED visas. It's no wonder, considering the regular posters here boasting about their Digital Pikery, gay porn movie roles etc, whilst working here on an ED visa, but not attending school.

Do you think Immigration may have a porn star database? I believe there's an app based on facial biometrics that can find pictures of anyone's face online.

The correct answer is probably that it is the Thai immigration's prerogative to chose where they will "send" you. The safest option is always your home country. If you go somewhere else, there is a risk you are denied entry there and sent back to Thailand.

The international program's are normally with Universities. Maybe, Immigration are also looking at certain schools?

This time it seems there actually is a follow-through after toughening the ED rules and with the overstay rules being changed. The IDC thread seems to be an indication immigration has started enforcing things. Remains to be seen for how long.

Wow, being that I am on an ED visa and currently outside the country visiting family, I find this thread really disturbing.

Seems beyond belief that they can just deny entry, without first making clear rules about some sort of testing etc.

The part about- Can never enter the country again on your current passport, also seems really out of control to me.

"Mr. X, even though we have no clear testing procedure, one of our officers deemed that your Thai language ability was not as good as he was expecting, so...

You will not be able to enter Thailand for the next 8 years, unless you purposely lose your current passport and get a new one issued."!!!!

Can this really be happening?

Wow, scary!

Nothing to be scared about if you can read basic Thai and have 20k in your skyrocket.

I was here for 8 years on marriage visa but got divorced so i applied for student visa. I dont attend classes as i already speak thai good enough and that was fine until recently. They said they believed that i was working here. I dont work really in thailand i have income from a business in HK. My Ed visa was 7 or 8 month old. Im on the airplane now leaving for Paris.

Johnny, I would have asked to see a supervisor, to see where he would stand - it's totally ok to do so. Sorry to hear you got refused. Btw which airport was this?

I know in the USA with a proper visa of any kind (not the VWP though) you can appeal the decision and take it to a judge if DHS refuse you entry. Does Thailand have an appeals process also??

I'd have asked to speak to a supervisor, sorry to hear you got stung, 6 months is not enough to learn a language like a native speaker.

I'm guessing that an ED visa would still require a Re-Entry permit (single or multi) in order to remain valid ? I've been told since day 1 that if I were to go out of the country without that, when I returned my Non-O(A) would become invalid, regardless of how long it had remaining on it. Is that the same for the ED Visas ?

And do the Immigration officers really have time to do ad-hoc language testing at the desk when the lines seem to stretch all the way back out onto the concourse every time I go through there lately (in the cattle class section at least - though sometimes even the Premium lanes are pretty busy as well).
