Christmas and New Year Holidays for the staff

Featured Replies

So every year we close the buisiness for the holidays.

Being British I always take the christmas break, the staff are not too bothered about that but I insist and of course they take New Year break aswell.

This year that runs from the 19th of Dec through to the 5th Jan.

Works for me works for them so a nice break for all.

My question is this ,

Im happy with it , the staff are fully paid so there cool about it too , but is it overly (generous) to give this time off over the holidays ?

Not a single buisiness im aware of in Phuket does the same so am I being ...... ?

Opinions please.............

Depends on the business. For many, the period you specify is peak season when most of the money is made.

are we meant to be impressed with your generosity seriously though its your bigness work place your money your life

do as you feel correct

This post was triggered by someone who felt it was their duty to voice their opinion and "dragged you over the coals" for being "too generous".?

First off, everybody is their own person with differing set of circumstances. During the holidays it seems that we all need to keep up with the jones'.

You do what you can and what you are able to do and of course what gives you that warm fuzzy feeling.

Why should you be required to gauge your generosity to others that may have less means.

Anybody voicing their opinion (though I'm open to criticism and ideas) of anything involving my money or choices I make, I tell them "DON'T COUNT MY MONEY"

If you have the means to close your business for 3-4 weeks, more power to you. They are very lucky employees.

Raked over the coals by whom? Can't see that it's anyone else's business. Maybe the coal rakers need to watch the movie A Christmas Carol or read about Scrooge.

Sounds like a self gratification, blow my own trumpet PR post to me

I have no need to stroke my own ego , it was a genuine post for feedback.

But this being TV there was always going to be a post like this I guess.

My opinion is don't be a sheep!

Do what you want to do and to hell with everyone else.

Yes, very generous of you. The outfit I work for is giving us 31 and 1 off, then expects us back for Friday #2, when off again for the weekend...............????
