I recently bought a water pump for my new house. we have a floor upstairs and the so called village plumber reckons that the pump cannot supply the taps upstairs. of course the pressure in the shower upstairs is fine but the taps in the sinks have hardly any flow at all. is this the correct pump and if it is are the pipes done incorrectly ?

Sounds as if there is obstruction in the taps or supply to them rather than a pump problem (based on shower working). Have you removed the air/screen mixers on taps to check if flow is good without them? Most of the time it is dirt there blocking flow.

i will check them ... thanks very much . I thought it might be something to do with the amount of pipework he installed but i will check the taps..

I agree with lopburi, there is a very good chance that the strainers on your taps are blocked by blue PVC pipe dust. Your pump should be more than sufficient, we have the same pump but the 250W model, and that is enough to provide good water pressure everywhere including on the second floor.

Excuse my ignorance but where are the strainers...on the end of the taps ?

Yes, look at lopburi's pic. They can be unscrewed and cleaned of any dirt they have caught.
