Seven more people linked to catering deal
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Seven more people have been found linked to a catering deal, which involves a woman who was also part of the alleged debt-collecting and intimidation racket run by former crime-buster Lt-General Pongpat Chayaphan, a senior police commander said yesterday.

Police are looking to see what roles these people played in the catering deals, led by Sudathip Muangnual, who is now in custody, and will take action if their acts are deemed to be criminal, Pol Maj-General Phakkharaphong Phongphetra said.

The catering deals involved the delivery of food to several restaurants. Sudathip is accused of unlawfully winning deals to run the catering scheme by citing royal backing and not offering the lowest price, which has led to her facing lese majeste charges. The catering deals included eateries at two palaces and at Suvaranabhumi Airport.

Separately, the Bangkok military court yesterday issued new arrest warrants for two suspects involved in Pongpat's racket. They now face lese majeste charges for allegedly falsely telling their lecturers at the National Institution of Development Administration (Nida) that they could not attend lectures because they were busy with errands assigned to them by the palace.

Police spokesman Lt-General Prawut Thawornsiri identified the two men as Nuttpon Suwadi and Chakant Phakphoom, who are already in detention for allegations in relation to Pongpat's racket.

Prawut said another suspect, Pol Colonel Songsak Khunsri, is on the run and has only a few days left before he is discharged from the police force for being absent without permission.

Songsak is a deputy division commander under the Crime Suppression Division, which comes under the Central Investigation Bureau, which Pongpat led before he was arrested last month.

It was one of Churchill's gems, but I can't remember in reference to what point in WW2,, I though it was the Battle of Britain but that was the never in the history of.....so much owed by so many to so few quote.

Ahhh, those hi-so good people of the south, keep looking people and you'll find more dirt than you have rugs to sweep it under or gaols to put them in,

these are the token few high profiles so that the powers that be can justify themselves.

But i'm happy they getting what they deserve, and far better time and resources spent rather than having a go at a strawberry jam producer.

Such is the depth of lawlessness genre that no one does or says anything about it until there is a reason for exposure. How can a country like this hope to move forward when the corruption is so entrenched and ignored? Shameful really

It was Churchills comment on the Second Battle of El Alamein in late 1942.

Sadly, it is looking more and more like this is a one off purge and not part of a wider crackdown on police corruption.

I guess I wasted the time using the wink.pngrolleyes.gif

And here we were led to believe that the Shin family and their coharts had exclusive rights to the scams at the airports of Bangkok. Its getting hard to believe/trust anyone, especially those who say they have privalige info/track to all the inside scoop anymore. On second thought?

Guess its time to publish another story about the honest taxie driver/citizen who returned someones left/forgotten valuables. I will admit to wondering how many times a day someone picks up left/forgotten items, money, phone, etc and its considered a personal windfall.finders fee?

Sadly, it is looking more and more like this is a one off purge and not part of a wider crackdown on police corruption.

The "government" is probably thinking the same thoughts as these two mice,.

WHO ELSE BUT OLD wINNIE....... YES....Winston Churchill. 100% sure.

" which involves a woman who was also part of the alleged debt-collecting and intimidation racket run by former crime-buster Lt-General Pongpat Chayaphan, a senior police commander said yesterday."

In the spirit of fair play shouldn't that read

"alleged former crime-buster"

Inspiring

What a can of worms this is turning out to be.

The house of cards is slowly collapsing, leaving Thailand in shambles.

so it be. A new Thailand can emerge, where people are credible and responsible.

Not rumour mongering since the Royal Bureaux today confirmed that the prince has divorced and the king has bestowed a new title on the ex-princess

Curious that The Nation report makes no mention of the fact that the woman in the OP is the wife of the former Samut Sakhon immigration police chief. That's the lead element of the BKK Post's story on the same arrest.

The BKK Post article includes a long list of the various others who have been jailed over the CIB scandal. Though equally oddly, the husband's (former Immigration chief's) name doesn't seem to be listed anywhere in the group of those currently in jail, as recounted by the Post.

Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.

He said it after the battle of el alahmein

Sadly, it is looking more and more like this is a one off purge and not part of a wider crackdown on police corruption.

And, unfortunately, it is not only the police who are corrupt in Thailand

Sadly, it is looking more and more like this is a one off purge and not part of a wider crackdown on police corruption.

If you still think this is about a crackdown on corruption then you have missed the very unsubtle clues about that which cannot be said.

Investigation ongoing into 'lese majeste'
The Sunday Nation

BANGKOK: -- Police will summon the business partner of a police officer's wife who has been accused of committing lese majeste for allegedly winning a contract to supply food to an establishment by claiming she had links with the monarchy.

The summons would be issued tomorrow so Palita Lakchalermporn could be interviewed on Thursday, a police source said.

Her business partner is Sudatip Muangnual, 45.

The source also gave a progress report on Lat Phrao police's investigation into Chakarn Parkpoom and Natthapol Suwadee for allegedly committing lese majeste by citing the monarchy so Chakarn could continue his master's degree study at the National Institute of Development Administration.

The source said police were checking to see if the letter Natthapol allegedly wrote to ask NIDA not to punish Chakarn for failing to meet the minimum class attendance was Natthapol’s writing.

That process should conclude this week.

We must admire the process that is taking place.

The sorting out in Phuket deserves admiration.

Land grabbing and beach zoning for jet skis must be on the horizon.
