Popular Post Crossy
PVC fittings are pretty cheap here, but I had the need for some pump maintenance fittings and our local outlet were out of stock. I had the requisite fittings, but they'd already been re-used at least once (by cutting the pipe long), this time I couldn't get enough pipe to make a decent glued joint. Enter Mr Google who found this Youtube video:- Ever the sceptic, and not wanting an uncontrollable burn, I used my gas torch to heat up the inside of the pipe before using the long nosed pliers just like in the video. Bu99er me if it didn't work like a charm, a quick run round with the emery inside the fitting and it's good to go. I gave it an extra splodge of glue when re-using but it's holding pressure just fine. Do ensure you're in a well ventilated area as the fumes from heated / burning PVC are not nice. eyecatcher
I had to reposition my wc last year so needed a longer pipe between the two 90s. A big hammer; lots of swearing; subsequent emery rubbing and an hour sweating also gets the same result but the solvent burn is a great tip. lopburi3
It really is amazing the information you can find on Utube these days - I had Samsung LED fail last month (double image) and as almost five years old replaced and then found below and got the old unit working fine again (did take a few tries as too wide a tape cause brightness difference between sides of screen) but in all only spent about 20 minutes and look like new.
