Does anyone know of a decent free download, for making animated gif files?

I looked in the "free software" topic that is pinned but can't find anything there.

I take it you don't have Adobe Photoshop which has Adobe ImageReady?

Might try here: http://www.freeserifsoftware.com/ I believe the PhotoPlus will do it and is free. Biggest problem is that it is a big download (19.4M).

An on-line gif animator that might do what you want if you are not looking for too much flexibility: http://www.gifworks.com/image_editor.html

I downloaded the PhotoPlus 6, don't know how to use it yet though

A great little program for assembling animated GIFs is Microsoft GIF Animator. Googlee for it. It doesn't have the steep learning curve of other packages, and is available in many places for free download.
