BANGKOK, Jan 6 -- Thailand's Interior Minister Gen Anupong Paojinda warns people in 13 northern provinces of possible thunderstorms and hailstorms from Thursday through Saturday as another high pressure area from China and westerly winds will converge in upper Thailand at that time.

The 13 provinces are Phitsanulok, Phetchabun, Sukhothai, Tak, Uttaradit, Lampang, Lamphun,, Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai,, Phayao, Phrae and Nan.

The minister said he put concerned officials on standby for the possible evacuation of affected people.

Chatchai Promlert, Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, said people in the 13 provinces should monitor weather reports and disaster warnings and follow advice strictly.

Residents should maintain their residences and buildings and refrain from using mobile phones and othercommunication devices in open areas. (MCOT online news)

"Thailand's Interior Minister Gen Anupong Paojinda warns people in 13 northern provinces of possible thunderstorms and hailstorms from Thursday through Saturday as another high pressure area from China and westerly winds will converge in upper Thailand at that time."

Well, why doesn't he make thunderstorms and hailstorms illegal and crack down on them? I'm sure that would work as well all his other reforms.

Red Shirt storms approaching from the north....beware!!

Is Thailand the only country in world where you are not allowed to use mobile phones during storms?
