Water Safty - Bottled/water Purifier/ Boiled ?

Featured Replies

I make the big move in 10 days and am curious as I've been told not to drink the water...

I appreciate any assistance

Hi Slated

Do a quick search, this has been debated recently with a whole array of different answers, some say they drink from the tap all the time, others will tell you that you must be suicidal to do so.

Others will say only use bottled water for drinking or for cleaning teeth....

Some will even tell what quantities to buy the water in and how much...

My advice, do the research and you take your chances or not whichever the case might be...

Good Luck

I tried searching for water, and the results were not what I expected. I'd appreciate a link if you know where it is.

I'll try searching again though, sorry

Drink bottled water until you settle in some place and see what other options are available. The tap water and the ground water are highly variable from place to place so one statement can not describe all of Thailand.

Personally, I would never drink tap water knowing how inconsistent maintenance and standards are followed in most things in Thailand. The water might be perfectly fine 99% of the time but then that 1% is the problem. Bottled water is cheap as are filters.

Also, don't worry too much....there are over 60 million people living in Thailand and they all drink water from time to time.

Check the medical section. Perhaps a month or two ago it was talked about. Water from processing plant in Bangkok is safe to drink but could have some nasties by the time your tap sees it so probably best to use some form of bacteria filtration just in case for drinking/ice use.

I only drink bottled water. But i do brush my teeth with tap water. Remember you will get the squirts at first no matter what you do. Its just the way it is.
