So Tromso tonite. Any views on a possible line up?

I see the back 4 unchanged, with Kaboul making a second half appearance if fit.

I suspect we will see Chadli, Sandro and Holtby at some point if fit. Paulinho to play the full 90 mins.

The mouthwatering prospect is Lamela, Siggurdson, Erikson and Soldado. Tromso must be absolutely crapping themselves.

COYS

Chaldli is still not ready apparently and Chiriches is still awaiting a work permit!

I'd love to see Kaboul make an appearance. Also expect to see Lamela start. He hadn't had enough time getting back from international duty to start last weekend. The prospect of Lamela, Eriksen and Townsend with Soldado up top is an exciting prospect.

Sandro very likely alongside Paulinho too. Defoe should play 45 mins too.

Get the job done and he'll make changes. We don't want any nasty injuries before our little derby on the 28th!

I predict more changes for tonight... I reckon Lamela, Defoe, Holtby, Naughton, Fryers, Kaboul and Sandro to start, and old man Friedel of course, only a couple of players from the weekend IMO

I understand where you are coming from, and would normally agree with resting the first team, but, Soldado and his midfield servers need game time, as much as possible, to practice playing competitively together, and jelling sufficiently to create the Soldado chances we have not yet seen.

What competion is this?

Europa League... hope we do better than Chelsea last nightcheesy.gif .... and can win more trophies than Arsenal have for nearly 10 years cheesy.gif (our last trophy ....2008) but I do envy Man Utd's record in Europe...

You hope you do better than Chelsea? The team that won it.

Man Utds record in Europe isn't that great relative to their domestic tally. Now, if you said Liverpool, you might not have sounded so dumb.

Tell me, when do you think you will win your next trophy? It's already going to be 6 years since 2008.

Ian, it's difficult to say in all honesty. Do I think you will win the league? Not a chance because winning the league is just as much about nerve as it is playing well and Spurs are not there yet. Cups? You might, but it's all dependant on who you meet to get to the final. Take the FA cup last year, we had Utd then had to play City. Tough break. Certainly tougher than Wigans route although they did beat City in the final.

Europa is a very good possibility for you, but does you guys and AVB actually want it?

Seems we have a situation brewing with Adebayor, ofcourse aided by media sh*t stirring and some ill chosen comments by that useless goal shy midget Defoe.

It's going to be a test of AVB's man management especially when the likes of Defoe. has chosen to throw his hat in with Adebayor.

Time to get rid of Defoe now. He's 30 next birthday but there just might be a club desperate enough to pay money for his limited talent.

Both these two would represent a very large reduction in wages to facilitate a new transfer for someone like a player from Juve or wherever!! With our attacking midfield options two's arguably enough.

Seems a bit harsh to want to get rid of Defoe when he has scored two at half time !! Just a thought facepalm.gif

Not at all. You don't judge him on one game (opposition well below premier league par anyway) but i'm judging him over the last four years. His conversion ratio is appalling, he doesn't make assists. crap in the air admittedly because he's a midget, and his work rate and movement off the ball is non existent. Everytime i see him in an England shirt it reminds me how lacking we are in depth of talent

We are taking the Europa seriously and so we should with our squad. Same applies to the FA cup.

Aside of needing our squad seeing regular playing time they are trophies to be won. The fans want silverware and AVB needs as much time, and as soon as possible to get a new team working as a unit. We can't go for too long with stuttering early season performances if we are to qualify for the CL. Its no secret AVB wants to play a 433 as our formation but as i'm aware only Eriksen is used to regularly playing within this set up so theres a lot of work to be done.

I had a very different view of the Eurpoa four years ago because we didn't have as good a squad and couldn't cope if we were to make a genuine top four challenge.

I can't see Spurs winning anything this season maybe a cup run or two but they have not got the power and cutting edge at the moment, maybe that will change but attacking wise the loss of Bale is immense.

Arsenal will finish above you again...no change.

Chelsea dropped down to the Europa last season, did you see the look of ecstasy on the faces of the manager, players and fans when they won it? It has been devalued since we last won it in '84, but there are only 4 possible trophies to be won in a season, and I believe the fans of every club want to see their club win a trophy, no matter which one.

You mock Chelsea for celebrating then in the next sentence say it has devalued, then say you want to win it. Which ever way you cut it, it has more value than your last cup which is known as the Mickey Mouse cup.

The one particular aspect of the europa league i don't like is the latter stage inclusion of sides eliminated from the champions league. Should be quite simply one tournament or the other.

...and too much dreck. I keep expecting to see a fixture involving The Little Sisters of the Poor. Its embarrassing what with some of the clubs involved. I think the competition suffers with the public as a result. I'd like to see fewer clubs and have the whole thing wrapped up much earlier than it is now.

Won't happen though...the money.

The lack of financial reward devalues it aswell.

However its good for playing youngsters and general squad development and buying cheap ciggies from eastern europe

It really is the losers cup and i would hate the thought of United ever being involved again.

A different format i think will should be looked at as atm it is not a very good tournament to get excited about is it,and the Thursday night match slots devalues it immensely.
