where to stay in Chiang Mai for 7 days

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, I've never been to CM and I'm planing to visit for around 7 days from around 18th / 19th April. It'll be the wife (Thai) and me and 2 kids, the boy is 16 (Thai) and my daughter 30. I'm arriving in Bkk. on the 2nd April and have booked 3 nights in Bkk., after that I've booked 6 nights in Hua Hin. We'll be spending sonkran week in Sukhothai (wifes home) and then I was thinking of going to CM for a week or so (seeing that we're half way there from Bkk). Obviously I'm not looking for bar life but I'm no prude and don't want to stay out in the sticks. Bassicaly it would be nice to stay in a "central" area where we can explore the area and see places of interest. I'm not into 5 star accomodation but also don't want to stay in a dump, if I know what area to look for I can then look on Agoda for my accomodation, so bassically I would apreciate assistance on what area to stay (and where not to stay) and places of interest to go. We'l be renting 2 scooters and if need be I can rent a car (prefer not to) if too far to do by scooter.

I'd apreciate any info / sugestions / heads ups.

Best regards

www.b2hotel.com mostly good locations, fair price, some have suites. All have a/c which you will need in April.

I generally recommend first timers to stay in the eastern part of the Old Town.

The other alternatives for “central” would be Nimmanhaemin or Night Bazaar area.
Old Town is where all the temples are, Nimmanhaemin is more westernized.
