KHON KAEN: -- Officials of the Khon Kaen public works and town planning office have suspended the construction of a high-rise condominium tower after a school next to the construction site evacuated several hundreds of primary students for safety reason after seeing unusual incline of a huge crane which may collapse on the school building.

The Hua Khieu Withaya school director evacuated the students yesterday and ordered the closure for two days after seeing a huge construction crane of the House condominium project leaning unusually towards the school building where hundreds of students were in classrooms, prompted fear it might collapse.

The director Mr Prasit Boonma then sealed off the school building and asked public works officials to inspect the crane.

Inspection later revealed nuts and bolts joining the crane on the 12th floor were loosened, causing the crane to incline on one side.

But construction supervisor assured officials that the crane would not collapse as it still was supported by the lift chamber.

However officials ordered construction to stop temporarily until it is repaired and assured by certified engineer.
