Any shops selling craft supplies that can compete with Chiang Mai Plastic?

They have a great range of stuff but of course you can never find everything you want.

One thing I haven't been able to find is fine gold cord/string. The kind you might use to hang a decorative tag.

Know of any other shops that are similar to CMP?

Yes, how about that! I was there today buying all sorts of stuff including the cord. If you combined Udomporn with CMP you would have a crafter's paradise; they are quite complimentary.

Have to check out the other places suggested at the market as well.
