Learning to use Kodi

Hi Guys,

I have installed Kodi on my Galaxy S5 and have been able to get it to work but I have quite a few questions. Finding Live TV Channels seems to be very easy and Finding Live Sport yesterday was super easy. Today I thought I would catch up with The Walking Dead but it was pretty difficult to find a working link. Am I doing something wrong, as it appears to be a lot easier to download torrents and watch them than search and click on dead links?

Thanks

Are you using the one channel( prime ) if you are then I have good luck with streams from pronptfile, best streams, thevideome, now videos. And nosvideo,

You can also download another addon called Genesis it has more streams. Also best to stick with SD 480 streams rather than HD 720 streams as less buffering.

Finally sometimes thevideome and best streams don't work initially so play a few minutes from another stream then stop the payback and try them again clicking resume from xx.

I use true as my ISP and I'm sure they throttle back some of the better known streams. When I sign on my VPN via Singapore many of the streams that don't work on True work fine.

Hi AJ,

Thanks for all the advice I am with 3BB I was trying solarfilms, YIFY and another one which escapes me at the moment and just nothing would work. This is the reason I got an IPTV box as I could not understand why half the stuff does not work. I will try Genesis and 480 and see how I get on :-)

Thanks

Greig

PS: I know a lot of you guys are very pro Kodi/XMBC so I hope you don't mind me asking questions.

I've just been testing out iStream for first time, and see The Walking Dead starts streaming quite well using a lot of the current default sources for streams set up in the settings. I have no time to watch any TV series and certainly not this kind of stuff, but wanted to test it all the same. Worth a try as well as some of the others. Certainly using torrents is easy, but having this seems a better overall design, esp on a TV set box with program synopsis and graphics thrown in as well.

I use Kodi for playing torrents from a hard disk

and there are no problems

I suspect your problems are more likely to be internet related

Yes, I forgot, so do I! With a good movie db or TV db scraper set up in Kodi libraries can do much the same and programs run instantly from your local drives. It does subtitle downloads as well. Sometimes my torrent downloads esp for TV series don't always get recognised, but the movie libraries seem to work flawlessly. Kodi has so much to it, I forget sometimes.

While NBC Sports appears to be free what about this issue?

*How do I verify my TV provider account?

When prompted, select your cable, satellite, or telco TV provider. You will then be asked to enter your username and password for your provider ; similar to when you pay your bill online. Don't forget to check "remember me" so you don't have to log in again. If you don't have an online account with your TV provider or can't remember your username and password, please contact your TV provider to learn more. If you already have a username and password from your TV provider, you will not need to create a new account. If you have not previously registered an account with your TV provider, you will need to do so with a valid email address. Please contact your TV provider to learn more.

Kodi NBCsports addon didn't need any TV provider verification. You can install it without a VPN and watch a very few shows on demand without any VPN at all to get a feel for this addon. To watch the main games tho I use a VPN, I don't know if DNS switching alone will work, I haven't got it to work that way.

Minix X8-H plus for around 5k or the M8 box for around 3.6k. Minix is a little more cutting edge, has better support and better wifi but if you're not interested in playing with all the bells and whistles on the minix then the M8 is the best if the rest in my opinion.

I've got a Minix X8-H Plus which I got from an English guy called Phil in Pattaya. It comes fully loaded with a load of apps for streaming Live TV and Movies, TV shows etc and is ready to go once it is connected your network. Cost was 6500 baht and comes with air mouse.

You do need a good internet connection but you are already on 3BB so you should be ready to go...

Check this out http://www.pattaya-addicts.com/forum/topic/233149-minix-tv-boxes-for-sale-uk-usa-tv-for-free/

NB. I have no affiliations to the above, just trying to spread knowledge and experience

Forgot to add: he sends them post free to anywhere is Thailand. I ordered and paid for the box and it arrived the next day in Buriram

You'll be needing this link

http://www.minixforum.com

You can ask the guy if the Minix box is already updated - you may need to download and apply an update which then allows OTA ('over the air' i.e. dead simple ) updates in the future.

Personally I use Plex rather than XBMC/Kodi - and recommend the 'Serenity' app if you also use Plex, especially if you is subtitles a lot.

The Minix has an app AirPin Pro that enables Airplay from iPads etc so you can throw your iPad youtube etc over - much easier...

You should also expect or ask for a free 'air mouse' - also by minix. The free in box remote is functional but IR whereas the armies is much quicker, rechargeable and useful for keyboard entry etc.

You may then decide to go down the Synology NAS drive route (or a desktop PC) running a Plex media server - i'm set up so my box auto searches for latest episodes of shows i want, downloads them, gets the matching subtitle for the wife (most of the time it's the correct one anyway...) and moves the files to their proper place for the Plex server to do its thing.
