"The Game of Musical Chairs" - and when the music stops, there will be no tourists left to even worry about finding a chair to sit on.

What a BS video from an idiot presenter

Anyone can hire a chair

All they have done is stop the vendors from taking over the beach with their chairs and forcing tourists to rent them.

Rent one from off the beach and place it where you want, easy

If you are staying there for a month and can't afford to buy a folding chair you shouldn't be visiting Thailand

Good idea Mr. Governor.

No chairs No food No smoking ...... and No breathing cheesy.gif

You'd think that after decades of being a top 10 tourist destination, Thailand would have at least some idea of how to deal with tourists and know what (as a tourist) they want.

I guess not. This has all (in part) lead to the massive decline in tourist numbers, the massive increase in negative reviews of Thailand online and the mass confusion everywhere about what is and is not allowed or acceptable in Thailand.

Good idea Mr. Governor.

No chairs No food No smoking ...... and No breathing cheesy.gif

and finally............... no tourists

I believe that was originally the case but now (I believe, but no one is sure) you have to be in one of the 10% areas, and I am not sure if you have to rent from a vendor there or not.....

Just keep the mafia off the beach and let people bring their own if they choose. Where you get it from is up to you.....

Not difficult really.

The problem was the vendors on the beaches, if you chose not to rent a chair they ¨victimized"you. Plus there was no beach left because of their chairs !!

"The Game of Musical Chairs" - and when the music stops, there will be no tourists left to even worry about finding a chair to sit on.

I used to love Phuket before the hoardes of tourists came and messed it up. Maybe I will start going there again

i think this is all due because they don't have the balls to tell the vendors to truely get lost!

So now instead they play the waiting game and wait for the vendors to slowly dwindle away any hope of a return to their monopoly

My opinion - the NCPO have severely shaken up the usual long long standing order of money payment by vendor to police/mayor and up the chain. And now many folks see a chance to dislodge that long standing order and try to get their small slice of the action. As I have stated before - they are all killing off the goose that lays the golden egg, but what does that matter to them. Many more flights landing at Phuket Airport today - ah ... but how many are turning left on the main highway ??

Phuket famous beaches :

What is the BS part? You clearly have not been keeping up with the news have you? The governor of Phuket has outlawed chairs and sunbeds except for the 10% part of the beach. A couple of days ago the police were enforcing these bye-laws and ejecting people who had brought their own sun chairs from the beach. It was all on video for everybody to see. A policeman telling tourists if the don't like it go home and complain from there. This is the law now (at least it was 2 days ago):

1. Sunbeds and parasols ONLY in the 10% area.

2. Towels are allowed on other parts of the beach but parasols are not, they can only be used in the 10% part of the beach

3. No food (except packed snacks such as crisps)

4. No smoking

This is how it is Gunna. It's a problem for a few reasons.

1. A lot of older people cannot get down or back up from the floor easily (or at all in some cases)

2. Laying on a towel is okay for some but no parasol means no shade. What are constantly being told these days about skin cancer being the fastest growing of all cancers?

I hope that clears it up for you?

do not worry thailand-the chinese will keep coming, they are used to being treated badly in their own country

-they will feel right at home here

So when you're visiting Phuket do you not consider yourself a tourist? Not one of the very same who messed it up? Tourism doesn't apply to you as you see yourself as something different? People like you make me laugh "we don't like going on holiday there, too many tourists" as if they're not tourists themselves... and I heard this once - which is perfect for you. "we stopped going on holiday there, it's been spoiled by tourism"

And dont allow the sand and water idiots.

The Gov said, hey somchai what should we do today?

Somchai, replied lets go & shoot our-self in the foot, we haven't done that for a few hours.whistling.gif

Here in Pattaya there's no beach chairs on Wednesdays , and that's a good thing actually. The beach looks better , more space for everyone and I bring my own chair, Very relaxing.

Now if only they could start picking up the trash...

All this crap that's going on now isn't about tourists.....as stupid as it is, it's about the beach chair and umbrella mafia grubs......the authorities and cops havn't a clue how to manage them and are obviously quite scared.........kindergarten politics.

No that isnt what the governor, police chief, or navy boss are saying..

No chairs.. Hence the videos of police trying to stop people with their own chairs..
