Visa on Arrival (walk) - Extension Possible at Immigration Office?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Can anyone please advise how many days extension I will be given at the Immigration Office? On the two previous occasions, I had 30 day visa on arrival at Mae Sai, though I was almost refused the second time, and had to explain to the boss of immigration why i needed to do this.. (i.e. back to back 30 days visa on arrival entries over a border crossing). Before that I had a Single Entry Non O from Laos which i then extended at immigration by 60 days.

I am a British passport holder. I have no qualms doing a trip to Laos or Cambodia or anywhere nearby to get a proper visa, though its my intention to fly back to the UK around the 16 March, so it would be almost pointless for me to obtain a visa in one of these countries.

My current visa on arrival finishes on the 27 Feb. Can I extend this at Immigration? If yes by how many days (7 or 30 or 60 or none)? I have a thai son if that helps too.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

You have been doing visa exempt entries, not visa on arrival. Since you have a Thai son you can extend for 60 days at immigration, ad you did before already, or for 30 days for simple reason of tourism. Cost is Bt 1,900 in all cases.

As you have found yourself, it is not advisable to do repeated out/in on visa exempt entries.

as paz posts and a correct visa for your planned length of stay before leaving the UK is the way to go in the future, either a non 'O' if possible or a 1,2 or 3 entry tourist, all entries for you can be extended by 60 days to visit Thai son.
