Advice required for mobile phone purchase

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I'm looking for a non-smartphone that has good camera feature. Don't like touch screen feature and don't need to surf the net either.

Please advise. Thank you:)

What do you propose to do with the photos once you have them on the phone?

Save in usb or develop them.

Develop them?

I hope it's a disposable phone that you're going to be throwing away.

You will have to look long and hard for a non smartphone with sufficient camera resolution to be able to develop photos. As far as usb goes ... I don't think so but I could be wrong. Maybe you could pick up a secondhand Nokia N95 or something similar, that has a 5mp camera.

As you don't care for touchscreen maybe a blackberry is the way to go but it's not cheap.

It's entirely possible that something exists to suit your needs / requirements but it will probably come at a high relative price because it's not in today's main stream. Most purchasers require a touch screen smartphone for ฿5000 or less. Their is plenty of choice in that bracket. For example, take a look at a Samsung Galaxy s duo. 5mp camera, 2 SIM cards, usb to pc, wifi, 4" screen, etc.

Used to have N95 but Nokia does not repair anymore as they don't have spare parts for N95. Even if I manage to find secondhand set, no one can repair in case it's out of order.

Is there a model similar to N95 currently in the market?

You might have to bite the bullet re non-smartphone I'm afraid.

If it is all about the camera, have a look at the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom.

while you just need to 'save to USB' and you don't need connecting to internet nor sharing with others; why not considering a basic 'point-and-shoot' camera, they have much better image quality and a lot of choices.

otherwise you may have a very specific reason !

Need to make phone calls as well:)

The type of phone you describe is really out dated now

Even getting a new battery, when needed, will be a challenge

Also the camera resolution will not be very good

I don't think I have ever seen a phone with support to save to usb

USB connection to a computer is OK assuming you have a computer

The older phones are not very good on support for usb connection either

Get over your aversion to touch screens and go for a modern phone.

You don't have to use the Internet side, but the camera will be good

and also the usb side to transfer photos to your computer :D
