Ha! Justice in Thailand is hilarious. The whole system wastes so much money trying people, finding them guilty, then just releasing them again.

  • Interesting how protest leaders and defenders of the poor always seem to manage the odd million bail money. Especially with various cases progressing in parallel.

So they were sentenced to jail then immediately freed on bail ?. Reminds me of the police convicted for murder then also given bail. If this country wants the rest of the world to stop laughing at it

Convicted Red Shirts at Pattaya Remand Prison granted Bail by Appeals Court

red-1.jpg

PATTAYA: -- Despite initially being refused bail by the Pattaya Provincial Court last Thursday, 15 convicted Red Shirt activists were released on bail granted by the Appeals Court on Monday Night.

The 15 men, including core Red Shirt leader Khun Arisaman were convicted of organizing a Red Shirt raid of the ASEAN Summit which was held in Pattaya in 2011. Thousands entered the Peach Convention Center at the Royal Cliff Hotel in South Pattaya during the summit, causing delegates, including senior foreign government officials, to flee.

Last Thursday the 15 men identified as the organizers of the raid, were sentenced and Khun Arisaman and Khun Worachai, a former Pheu Thai Member of Parliament were sentenced to 4 years in Prison. The Pattaya Court denied the men bail and ordered them to be sent to the Pattaya Remand Prison to begin serving their sentences.

Reminds me of the police convicted for murder then also given bail. If this country wants the rest of the world to stop laughing at it, it needs to stop headlines like this.

This country is not going anywhere in the next 50 years or so!

Just once it would be nice if they said "no bail" and makw them sit in jail during appeal .. guess that never happens to those woth money

at first it looked like finally they start implementing justice

- but then free them after their well deserved conviction !

Nothing but a bad joke

Was it Mr. T who bailed him out? The judge probably got a new Ferrari in his carport now.

You're looking at the cream of the Red Shirt crop, folks. Thaksin should be proud these are the guys who represent him in Thailand.

Well most of the red shirts are found guilty, very quick work. What happened to the yellow shirts that raided the airport and made the country look stupid? Did they let them go or I did missed the news?

Where is this country going after 50 years?

Perhaps a holiday in Europe?

Or Maybe a relocation to the moon

Is there any other country in the world where jailed convicts can post bail and be freed?

You should pay attention. They already left the airport more than six years ago. They even cleaned up before leaving. PAD leaders have been sued for years already and the process is in the last stages of appeal. In a separate charge PAD leaders have been convicted to pay 500 or 600 million Baht in damages. Also in appeal I think.

The case of the topic has just passed the first level court only. No doubts appeals will follow as bail was asked and granted.

Don't you think this travesty of justice makes the country look stupid?

Where are all the Red Shirt supporters who oppose bail?

If the Yellow shirts shouldn't get bail whey should this lot, ESPECIALLY as there are Red Shirt supporter but of a much lower class STILL in jail because they cannot get bail.

Dual standards once again.

I can't recall the actual story but a couple of months ago some semi famous bloke was found guilty of Murder and then got bail ?

Doesn't appear too worried as he is taking the opportunity to cop a feel. Where's his other hand

Doesn't the smile give it away?

Would have been cheaper to stay in Cambodia Fat Boy. Your Get Out of Jail Free card has expired.

I think it was Kalasin where 2 policemen got the death penalty for murder last year, they were freed on bail the next day.

What a joke of a system Thailand has, charge you, take years to get to court, find you guilty, sentence you, send you to jail for a few days, then out on bail for another few years to death, what a JOKE
