BANGKOK: -- Singapore Changi Airport again was voted the world's best airport for the third year running in the annual SkyTrax World Airport Awards 2015 announced Wednesday in Paris. Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi was also among the list of 50 best airports.

The result was based on more than 13 million surveys completed by 112 nationalities of airline customers between May and January, and included 550 airports worldwide.

The survey evaluates customer satisfaction across key performance indicators such as check-in, arrivals, transfers and shopping facilities.

Thailand’s Suvarnabhumi Airport was named among the world’s top 50 airports, earning the 47th rank, one notch up from last year’s ranking.

Changi handles 5,000 arrivals and departures a week by 80 international airlines.

South Korea’s Incheon International Airport was named the No. 2 best airport for the third year running.

Germany’s Munich Airport retained its third rank as did Hong Kong International as fourth rank in 2014.

Tokyo International (Haneda) climbed one notch to No 5 from 6 in 2014.

The Skytrax World Airport Awards are the most prestigious and coveted awards to recognise product and service quality across the world’s airport industry.

Also known as the Passenger’s Choice Awards, it was launched by air transport advisory group SkyTrax since 1999.

Of the world’s top 10 airports, six Asian airports have made to the list.

The top 10 airports in 2015 according to SkyTrax are:

1. Singapore Changi Airport

2. Incheon International Airport

3. Munich Airport

4. Hong Kong International Airport

5. Tokyo International Airport (Haneda)

6. Zurich Airport

7. Central Japan International Airport

8. London Heathrow Airport

9. Amsterdam Schiphol Airport

10. Beijing Capital International Airport

I am certainly no Thailand basher but this has to be a joke (just like Heathrow at number 8). There is no decent food to be had anywhere and a few moths ago they saw it fit to kick out Asia Books so cannot even get a magazine. The duty free shops are a rip-off. I do not agree with the frequent long-line comments, I fly in 1-2 a moths and it is usually OK.

Nothing wrong with Suvarnabhumi.

The people that are running it is the problem.

If they could organize the immigration queues and take away the monopoly from Kings Power it would have been a very pleasant airport.

Never read the news about the cracks in the runways?

It's all down to personal preference. You obviously weren't one of those polled.

Thailand still dreaming of becoming #1 in something...anything

Thailand is Number one in complaining expats alt=tongue.png> no where in the world have I seen a more disgruntled bunch, if only they could leave, go some place else,

any place! but these dastardly Thais with their 47th ranking airports and cracked runways........... perhaps if they had better airports they would all leave alt=laugh.png>

This. I guess there are a lot of very happy expats in Thailand but it does seem that large numbers hate the place and reluctantly stay here for the sun and the s*x. Riles the heck out of me but then I guess they would complain just as much back home.....

I get the impression that when these constant Thai bashers left their own country their towns had street parties in celebration. Everyone had cynical moments but to persistently complain about a nation that THEY CHOOSE to live in I'll never understand. Maybe the should try Syria, I hear it's lovely this time of year.

0ver 40,000 airports in the world, 47th is not bad.

What is it people expect to eat at an airport that you can't get there?

As far as the duty free, it seems to be the same as duty free everywhere to me.

I don't get all the whining (moaning?) about it, I go through at least once a month (three times this month) and I think it's fine. I don't get how Singapore in #1 either, yet people rave about it. I was through it a couple months ago and it seemed kind of dingy and dated to me.

Whatever

. Terminal 2 and 3 are The Best don't know about Term. 1

Il tell you everything Beats LAX, a National Disgrace, nonstop construction , should be Leveled or Condemned...

LAX? try JFK aside from the fact that it is a dump, it takes me longer to get there, than to fly from there to Thailandlaugh.png

I was through the Bradley International Terminal last month. I don't know about the other terminals, but the construction at that terminal was complete and it actually looked rather nice. The new Star Alliance lounge is very nice indeed, particularly the outside part, which has a bar with gas burners along the tables and a nice view of the runway.

WHY NOT complain if there is something to complain about.

Yeah, the new Bradley terminal is nice. Immigration has improved a lot as well with the new system and what not.

I might be biased, but given the traffic and the fat that it's over 80 yeas old, I think LAX does okay.

I like Swampy- as I have advised before use the meet and greet service- 1000 baht ( peanuts) never queue, porters to your car, buggy to bypass everyone - it's brilliant.

To step out into the heat ( not the same as Don Muang, where you were assailed by an intoxicating aroma of diesel , fish sauce and maybe durian) is coming home.

How on earth Heathrow got near the top? Terminal 5 is good- but use BA.

As someone else said, why on earth do some of you live here- it's all a bit of an adventure; Thailand throws up surprises and sometimes challenges. If you wish to live in a wonderful cocooned life of liveried door men , mini bars and gold plated taps - go to Dubai

Thailand is my home , warts and all- and I actually like Swampy.

Thats like saying if there wasn't an "effin" great hole in the middle of the runway, the runway would be fine,

Swampy is way above average big airport in my experience. I am surprised Vienna is not on the list - one of the most efficient and comfortable airports (less so though after expansion a few years ago).
