THAI-IRISH RELATIONS
Thailand and Ireland to celebrate their 40th anniversary

BANGKOK: -- Thailand and Ireland agreed to boost bilateral trade and cooperation as they are going to celebrate their 40-year-long relationship.

Foreign Minister Gen Tanasak Patimapragorn discussed the matter with new Irish Ambassador to Thailand Brendan Rogers on Wednesday. The two countries are this year celebrating the 40th anniversary of their diplomatic relations.

At the meeting, Tanasak and the Irish ambassador discussed ways to increase the value of bilateral trade from US$ 810m currently, in which Thailand enjoyed a surplus.

Tanasak also praised Ireland for its exemplary success in the adjustment of economic structure, educational development and the establishment of hospitable environment for investment, resulting in a 4.8 per cent growth in economy in 2014.

Ireland doesn't have an ambassador to Thailand! They only have consulate level relations. Thai's in Ireland have to rely on a mobile consulate from England that only arrives a few times a year. The closest Irish Embassy to here is in KL..

Come on now!. Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story.thumbsup.gif

And England certainly doesn't have an embassy, consulate or mobile consulate in Thailand. Or anywhere else for that matter.

Been on too much sauce?

Actually Ireland has now two consulates and an embassy in Thailand. Not bad for a country Roth 4 million people. And yes HE Brendan Rogers is the new ambassador. Been here a couple of months now.

The biggest hangover in history

There's always one cretin, without fail.

It's called banter... and he probably didn't mean to insult anyone.

Lighten up.
