I am planing a 2 weeks trip in the sisaket area visiting relatives. I fear to get bored staying in the village. so does anybody know some friendly place in town where I can meet with few local friendly farangs around a beer or two?

You should come and visit Frank's Living in the Past". He's living here for about 20 years, has a restaurant near the police station and you'll meet some good people there.

He speaks German, English and a good Thai.

How to find him? Let's say you come from Surin, drive into Sisaket. Drive over the white bridge ( in Thai called Saphan Kao) just go straight until the end of the road.

You'll see the coppers on your left hand side.

Make a left turn at the end of the road ( the last traffic light) and you'll find Frank's Living in the Past, after about 100 meters on the right hand side.

If you get lost, please just ask a Thai: Rhaan Ahaan Farang Dongnai? thumbsup.gif

There's a nice place outside of town on the way to Kantharalak, called treehouse. They do have a nice swimming pool, nice rooms and the food is eatable.

If you'd like to do some weight lifting, look for the sports school. There's a nice gym.

If you're into Disco life, then visit Nana disco and you might enjoy it. Haven't been there for many years.

But Frank is basically a must go. he can tell you all you want to know. Except the lottery numbers, perhaps.

The famous "Tanonn Kundae", or walking street on Sundays us pretty much liked by all Thais.

When you go there, please visit the market opposite the train station, please also try the food stalls offering some really good Thai food, fruits, etc..

But please be warned when you go to the Sunday market.

Too many "eye candies" could easily provoke a verbal fight with your wife, because wherever you're looking at, you'll see some breathtaking girls.

That's Siskaet.

Hope you enjoy your stay, I do it for 13 years. Thumbs up for Sisaket. 13 years ago, people were still pointing at you and said:"Look a farang."

P.S. Frank and treehouse have free wireless as well.

Mind you, my first wife (that one from Roi et,) nearly killed me before for the same reasons...sad.png

Hey,

I love Prachuap Khiri Khan a lot. Especially Bangsaphan Noi area, a little place called Ban Krud, sometimes also spelled Ban Krut. An idyllic fisher village with a nice atmosphere.

You'll be surprised about Sisaket now. 13 years ago, there's only the Suun Heng Plaza, a shopping mall, Thai style. Now there's a Macro, Big-C, Tesco and about one million 7 eleven.

But at this time, there's a nice place called Sugar Brasil Pub with really good live music. The one guy played a better guitar than Carlos ever did.

That's gone and you can only find some Thai youngsters making terrible music nowadays.

I drove the way a couple of times, so please drive slowly, you've got all the time of the world. It seems the Songkran idiots are already occupying all roads and guys in Isaan have their own way to move a vehicle.

I don't even know if you could call that driving, to be honest. I'll have to get my visa and work permit sorted out by the end of this months, but wouldn't have a problem to meet you once you're here.

Again, you've been warned. People from Sisaket are the worst drivers. but don't worry, I've got Ubon Ratchathani license plates....laugh.png

Will send you my phone number and email vie message. Regarding your first wife, who was from Roi Et, how many wife's are you using per 100 km?

Let's meet Mr. Frank and talk about it over a beer, or so. Cheers.-wai2.gif

Hey Mr. Frank,

Just a short update. Did my tax declaration, when you phoned, then drove to Frank's "Living in the Past", where I had a fantastic Schnitzel "Vienna Style", with potato salad.coffee1.gif

Yesterday was boiling hot and I must have sat there for one hour to eat all.

Really needed four small Leos and finally left the place highly satisfied. Thanks a lot for the good food, Herr Frank und Nong.

Can't think of a better place with better foreign food in Sisaket. Then we went to the treehouse and really enjoyed the pool.
