Can anyone shed some light on the current situation..............last I heard was all traders were supposed to be out by April 2007.....................anyone heard of a replacement venue??

I always liked the market, plenty of choice and not too pricey............besides which I loved to eat at the food centre under the big tree at the crossroads there - they do one of the nicest som-tams I've ever had and their Duck/rice is pretty good too. A real good fun location and one I will go back too when next in the LOS..............(138 days and counting) :o

It's being replaced by somthing we all need. New condo complex and another shopping center. I kid you not. Land is owned by Crown Property Bureau and Night Bazaar was only temporary. Seems a shame. Out of town visitiors as well as myself enjoy going there as it does not have the hassle of Chatuchak market.

Yes, that's what I'd heard..........seems like a bit of an out-of-the-way place for yet another mall though.............such a pity!

Does anyone have any idea where all the stallholders ore going to set up next or maybe they are just going to fade away.................that doesn't seem a very Thai thing to do.

Just picked this up from yesterday's (wed 6th Sep) Bangkok Post if anyone's interested.

PROPERTY END OF CONTRACT AT SUAN LUM

Landlord luring tenants out with free rent

POST REPORTERS

The Crown Property Bureau will waive six months' rent for retail spaces at Suan Lum Night Bazaar if tenants register to relocate by April next year.

Tenants will have until Oct 15 to register, otherwise they will lose out on the chance to stay rent-free.

The bureau rented out the space opposite Lumpini Park to P Con Development (Thai) Co for three years from 2003. P Con then sub-rented the space to more than 300 small tenants who operate retail business there.

The contracts expired in April this year, but the bureau agreed to extend the rental period for one year to help tenants find new locations, moving the deadline to April 1, 2007.

So far, only Suan Dusit Rajabhat Institute has confirmed that it will relocate by the deadline set by the CPB.

The bureau found that P Con had ignored its notification despite several attempts and therefore planned to proceed using other measures.

The Crown Property Bureau wants to get the space back from its current tenant so a new client _ who has plans for residential condominiums, a hotel, commercial plaza, entertainment and an art and cultural centre _ can move in.Although it has not been yet announced, Central Pattana Plc has said it wanted to get the concession to develop the 127-rai plot bordered by Wireless and Rama IV roads in the middle of the central business district.

The bureau said it had already selected a new developer to create a project that matched the site's potential. It would like to seek the co-operation of related parties to be able to deliver the site on time.
