Phuket lifeguards will hopefully be back on the beaches by next month.

PHUKET: Phuket Governor Nisit Jansomwong finally approved the contracts for lifeguards to return to the beaches on Thursday (April 16). There have been no lifeguards on duty since March 27.

Phuket Governor Nisit's secretary confirmed to The Phuket News that the “contracts have been approved.”

An officer who did not want to be named also confirmed that the contracts arrived to Phuket Provincial Administration Organisation (OrBorJor) yesterday (April 17).

The officer explained, “We received authorisation from the Phuket Governor. But we still need to manage all the budgets next week.”

Paiboon Upatising Chief of OrBorJor, together with the rest of the committee, will then work together to finalise the contracts.

“The contracts will be active for 10 months. We hope that the lifeguards will return to their duties by next month,” said the officer.

Excellent. Now all we need is a procedure to prevent this mess next year.

Excellent, by why only 10 months ?

February being a good month to butt heads on this again as the water is calm.

Every year the same, ridiculous system of waiting to renew contracts until after they expire and also

shorting a service that is needed year round.
