I am taking a thai lady to phuket for a short holiday, staying @ salathai resort, patong beach, not having been to patong for 10years, I am asking advice on a quieter open area bar with music maybe, food & drink, a place where you can talk & enjoy good atmosphere, rather than head banging loud beer bars, & drunken ,vomiting young falangs, mind you, 3 decades ago i was one of them myself, my 1st visit to patong beach being 1980,Anyway that's another story, any advice appreciated, cheers

Dons BBQ on Nanai Rd.... great buffet, all you can eat for 249 thb every Saturday and Sunday evenings. Western BBQ and Thai food. Great staff and a really nice owner. No view but a great place.

Given your resort location, I would suggest one of the small bars at the circle/bus terminal. From your resort left down the beach road, past Holiday Inn and Merlin. About a 10 minute walk. About 3 or4 bars there, well patronised by locals.

Thai's can't do most things that involves "work" - they import Burmese, Cambodians, Vietnamese and Laotians for this.

Seriously, there is plenty of live music, regardless of who is singing, in Bangkok, Pattaya and Chiang Mai. For some reason, not much live music here.

That's the one with the revolving stage. Yes, they are Filipino. It's a nice place, with good food and atmosphere (provided the weather is nice) but I wouldn't call it a "quiet" place because it does get busy there.

Making a positive out of a negative......when its raining very hard, using a tuk tuk taxi on the way back over Patong Hill might be a bonus ....added by the excitement of making it alive back to the hotel.

Pretty much negates the whole experience of everything on Phuket.

Crazy how transport costs more than food and beverage storage, preperation and service, and also, in many cases, accommodation per night.

Please post the phone number for the Government regulated Phuket taxi service in which a METERED taxi arrives, you inform the driver of your destination, he turns the meter on and conveys you to your destination.

Surely, Phuket has such a service, being a "World Class Tourist Destination" and this being 2015 and all.

Good steak, but no live music.

Haven't eaten there for about 6/7 yrs but was good food at the 9th floor, obviously not cheap though.
