Laundry Gamblers caught in South Pattaya

PATTAYA: -- In an attempt to recover money spent during the recent Songkran Festival, a 44 year old Laundry owner decided to organize an illegal gambling event but someone informed the Police of the unlawful gathering.

Khun Suntorn is the owner of the Laundry located in Soi Bongkot 3 in South Pattaya and invited a group of friends over to play the popular dice game “Hi-Low” for money, which contravenes Thailand’s strict anti-gambling Laws.

Police received a tip-off in the early hours of Wednesday, and gathered a team of 10 Officers who surrounded the location and then ran in, catching the group playing the dice game for money.

The only reason that Thailand, pretty much alone among its neighbours, bans gambling is that if it was legal the politicians and police who run the illegal operations would lose their billions of baht in income. Saying that too many lives would be ruined if it was legalised is ridiculous and an insult to the Thai people, accusing them of being less mature and able to control their gambling than their neighbours.
