BANGKOK: -- THAI SOCCER fans are in for a treat with English Premier League giants Chelsea and Liverpool due to play friendly matches against a Thai team on May 30 and July 14 respectively.

Newly crowned Premier League champions Chelsea, who landed the title after a five-year gap with a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Sunday, will arrive in Bangkok on May 28 with their trophy, a source from Singha Corp, the team's global partner, said.

A full strength Blues squad is expected to strut their stuff against a Thailand All Stars team in Bangkok on May 30, six days after their last Premier League game against Sunderland on May 24. The source said Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is longing to come back to the country after being impressed by the friendliness of Thais. Two years ago, Chelsea played in an exhibition game staged to coincide with the 80th anniversary celebrations of Boon Rawd Brewery, which also marked the Portuguese coach's first match as the team's manager.

Thailand will be the first stop for Liverpool's 2015-2016 world tour. The Reds will play here on July 14, followed by games against Australia's Brisbane Roar (July 17) and Adelaide United (July 20). The tour ends on July 24, with Malaysia the last stop.

Liverpool will be led by manager Brendan Rodgers, who guided the Reds to the runners-up spot in the 2013-2014 Premier League season. Team structure aside, local fans will be happy to learn that the key players Jordan Henderson, Raheem Sterling, Daniel Sturridge, Philippe Coutinho, Lucas Leiva and Mario Balotelli are expected to meet and greet them during the Thai leg of the tour.

The Reds' previous five visits to Thailand were in 1983 (Liverpool won 3-0), 2001 (Liverpool won 3-1), 2003 (won 3-1), 2009 (tied 1-1), and 2013 (Liverpool won 3-0).

Organisers reckon Liverpool will get a more frenzied reception in Thailand tha anywhere else on their international travels. They also claim the tour will be more entertaining than the previous five visits of the Reds to the Kingdom.
